Share in my excitement...

Today has been one of those days...not one of those "bad" days, more one of those "weird" kind of days. It's been long and it's been busy but it has been unbelievably exciting. First off, I was interviewed by my fellow GenZ author Chris Smolinski, who I then in turn, interviewed right back! It was really fun and I enjoyed the short, sharp questions. To the point but insightful in a unique way. I then made my friend cry…don’t worry, they were happy tears and probably a lot to do with the

Five Minute Fiction

Hidden Treasure. Damn it man, get a grip!  He hopped from foot to foot, unable to stand still.  His body was filled with so much nervous tension, he actually felt slightly sick.  It was always like this, had been for over a year since he had first discovered the tiny place, tucked away down a darknened alley.  It was like a piece of treasure, hidden from everyone but those who had stumbled across it accidently, and it was exactly what had him coming back again and again, because it felt

Author Spotlight - Cameron Grace

Over at GenZ, I am incredibly lucky to be surrounded by some immense talent, from YA authors, to mystery writers to poets.  One of these fabulous people just happens to be Cameron Grace, who is not only an incredibly talented writer, but also a performer, an editor in chief and a kick ass air guitarist. I have been fortunate enough this past week to interview him, so keep reading to get a little insight into one of GenZ's published poets. LR: Thank you for taking the time to answer a few

Where there is dark...

At some point during your life you will experience darkness.  No one is immune to it, although for some, it might not be as all consuming, might not take as long to get out, but it will still at some point, sneak up on you and leave you feeling blind to the beauty of the world. For some people, for some of the time it feels like it is all there ever is, this black nothingness that can swallow you whole.  An endless abyss that stretches on with no way of knowing whether it will ever end or how

The Mountain - A Poem by my daughter

My daughter certainly has my imagination and it warms my heart to see the passion she has also gained from me for books and the written word.  I'd like to share this poem with you all that she sat and wrote over the weekend(I got her permission, don't worry!). I may be completely biased but I think it's pretty cool for a ten year old! So here it is:   The mountain White with snow Sat near a village Watch it glow It points to the sky Up so high I look again It's a trap I look again It's a map I

#InternetFriendsDay....some recognition.

So I went onto Twitter, as I always do to catch up with the days events, and "Internet Friends Day" has been trending, which made me realise, I've met some pretty cool people since I started on this amazing journey to getting my book published.  There are many out there who follow you on Twitter to only receive a follow back and they then promptly unfollow you and to those people, all I can say is you are missing out on some serious awesomeness!   I decided I should give some recognition to the

Untitled...

In the harsh light of day, Things can become clear, Life has this way Of taking things you hold dear   It can kill you inside, Take away your spirit, In the shadows you hide Trying to run from it.   But there is always light That is waiting to be found If you're willing to fight If you're willing to look around   In the people you know And the ones you don't yet The love they will show Is something you can't forget   For there has to be darkness For the stars to shine bright So let yourself

#taglinetuesday - the results.

Yesterday I stuck a picture up on twitter and asked people to come up with a tagline for if the image was the front cover of a book.  There were some great ones that you can see below!     “Beware of what rises from the mist…”  Courtesy of @TaylorFenner       "Island of Mist and Magic."  Courtesy of @AliceWhite01       "Ghost Church - Let the Spirit Move You."  Courtesy of @A_ShaneWilson       "The lives lost on Tower Island don't want you to leave..."  Courtesy of @Raffers182 (I thought I was

Author Spotlight - R.J. Rogue

I've been fortunate enough in this past week, to join an amazing publisher, GenZ, who represent some seriously talented writers, one of which is R.J Rogue.  I managed to catch him for a quick author interview, which is brought to you below. Grab yourself a coffee, sit back and find out a little more about this up and coming author!   L:      So, I know you focused on dance for a while, but at what point did you know you wanted to be a           writer?   R.J:    I knew I wanted to be a writer

Five Minute Fiction.

Hope.   The surface of the water reflected the beautiful sky, as if it were made of mirrored glass.  The air was fresh, the slight chill nipping at his ears as he stared out over the Lake.  It always looked the same this time of year, always looked so picturesque.     He sat on the bench, watching as people milled past him.  He liked people watching, liked thinking up stories for them, imagining what sort of life they had.  He watched as a small boy chased a dog across the frosty grass, his
