Hi Warren! Thank you for this fun question; I'm happy to answer!
If banished to a desert island, my time there would perhaps not be such a punishment if I had these along;
1) Books: The Complete Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson, my favorite English poet
2) Music: The beautiful acapella harmonies of Voces8, my current favorite choral group
3) Food: Italian - because if I'm on a desert island, I'm going to enjoy all the delicious carbs and decadent desserts I want! :-)
Have a great day. -Stacie (less)

The first couples that came to my mind are famous ones - Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth Bennett, Samson & Delilah, Romeo & Juliet, Mr. Rochester & Jane Eyre, Heathcliff & Catherine. Some of these lovers seem burnt into the pages, their stories like bright flames that have stayed in my mind long after I closed their books. Unfortunately, not all had happy ends - but I suppose their stories were all the more potent in tragedy.

I'm currently reading the Poldark series (by Winston Graham), and believe Ross & Demelza's characters fit together beautifully, in ways that are very realistic and relatable. There's a lovely scene in the book 1 where they go out on a boat to watch the pilchards being caught, and though they are already married, it is the first moment of shared intimacy that begins to develop a deeper love between them. She is described as older than her years and he younger, each is shaping the other so that their two distinctly different characters become a little closer. She brings a vibrant, hopeful youth and he a darkness, but also wisdom; both share a stubborn toughness, a tenacity and steady belief in truth and equality. These qualities are what make their love strong, their bond unbreakable, and ultimately - their life together a happy and successful one. (less)
