Sometimes I go for a walk to clear my head, or I go to a library or coffee shop to minimize distractions. Listening to music can help put me in the 'mood' of my current project. Sometimes I write a place-holder (which is usually terrible) just to get to the more interesting part.

My best/least-favourite method is to think about the problem as I'm going to sleep, because I know that the answer will come to me just as I'm about to drift off, and I'll have to wake up to write it down. The more tired I am the better this method works. (less)

Travel VS Writer’s Block

I’ve been having wickedly terrible writer’s block lately. There are so many projects on my list, and I keep getting stuck on stupid things that I shouldn’t be stuck on.

I have a few methods for dealing with writer’s block:

- go for a long walk
- go to the library or a cafe
- change the music / listen to music
- turn off the TV / stop watching Youtube videos (you’ve seen this one already, you don’t need Read more of this blog post »

“Naydir held his breath as he watched the person who had once been his friend move forward into the crowd. He wanted to run up to her and demand to know which side she was on, but he was rooted to the ground by fear. In a few seconds she would announce who had won the war and who had lost. Naydir prayed that he was on the winning side.”

“But she did exist, and she wasn't some kind of demi-god or powerful being. She was surprisingly human.”
Ali House, The Six Elemental

“We're trying to avoid the big stuff until Naydir comes back," Kit said. "That only leaves the little, angry things.”
