After a career in the Probation Service, I joined the MA in Writing at Sheffield Hallam University and achieved a lifelong ambition of writing a novel. This was 'The House Fell on Her Head' published 2016. I have had a number of short stories published, including several in an anthology published by Cinnamon Press ('Review of Short Fiction') and a collection of domestic noir stories ('Martini Girl and other stories'). My second novel, 'The Last Thing She Did' will be published by Bloodhound Books in September 2020 and I am currently completing my next novel, working title 'Flashback'. ...more

The challenge was then to not use it all, which would be boring, but to get inside the period, imagine what it would be like living during those events. I read a lot of people's stories as well as factual information about the war generally and the war specifically in Sheffield. All historical information should be accurate (though someone has pointed out one error which I will correct in the next edition). Thankyou for your interest.(less)
