Jacob Steven Mohr does not believe in human consciousness; his works emerge as though from the ether, fully formed and fully ominous. Selections of these can be observed in Cosmic Horror Monthly, Shortwave Magazine, Chthonic Matter Quarterly, Weird Horror Magazine, and The Best Horror of the Year Vol. 15. He exists in Columbus OH. The idea for the story actually came to me, nearly fully formed, in a dream! At first it was only a simple scene between the two protagonists, and seemed too strange (and, of course, dream-like) to make a compelling story, but over months and months I kept coming back to the idea until I finally decided to try to write it.

The book began as a short story, actually, but once I started writing I couldn't stop. Funny how that works sometimes. (less)

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
"Margaret Wise Brown's nihilistic classic is a howling renunciation of God, here depicted as a "quiet old lady whispering 'hush'." There is no afterlife here, no reward, no release from the crushing mundanity of life. There is only the bowl of patheti" Read more of this review »
