Tamar Frankiel I’ve been fascinated for decades with the period that gave rise to both early Christianity and rabbinic Judaism. So when I began writing fiction, the …moreI’ve been fascinated for decades with the period that gave rise to both early Christianity and rabbinic Judaism. So when I began writing fiction, the idea of writing a historical novel of that time had great appeal. I discovered that the second century was much less explored by novelists and it was also a good setting for a female heroine. All these factors converged to give birth to Dalit bat Levi of priestly lineage, married to a rabbi, faced with a new life and momentous choices in the pagan-dominated society of Roman Anatolia (modern-day Turkey).(less)
