I am thankful that someone, many years later, transcribed and shared with us the text of these valuable lectures.

The main work that Coe is known for is his labor with the Theological Education Fund of the World Council of Churches in the mid-1970s.

My favorite thing about this book was the narrator, who had lots of panache and opinions. The Americans sure come out as lousy meddlers but that was probably accurate at the time.

“The future belongs to those who procreate.”
Duane Alexander Miller

“The core of liberation theology is profoundly "theologal" - that is, rooted in the very nature of God. You see, there's an immediate relationship between God, oppression, liberation: God is in the poor who cry out. And God is the one who listens to the cry and liberates, so that the poor no longer need to cry out. ( Leonardo Boff, p. 166)”
Mev Puleo, The Struggle Is One: Voices and Visions of Liberation

“Without a constant misuse of language there cannot be any discovery, any progress”
Paul Karl Feyerabend, Against Method

“I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying.”
Nelson Mandela

“Trees that are slow to grow bear the best fruit.”
Moliere

“There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him.”
C.S. Lewis, The Great Divorce
