It is a novel, and therefore very different than my first historical non-fiction book, Roses in a Forbidden Garden: a Holocaust Love Story. However, it deals with many of the same ideas such as thriving despite being marked as an "other" in society, navigating one's survival in a hostile world, and the belief that true love enables you to conquer any battle in life.(less)
