Barney became a Christian in 1972, served as a Youth Pastor for four years, planted churches in Santa Cruz, in Pacifica, and San Bruno, California.

He lived and served in San Francisco for 8 years as a self-proclaimed “vagabond preacher,” doing street ministry in the Tenderloin and Golden Gate Park, mentoring young leaders, and writing for his blog, website and podcast.

He now lives in Santa Cruz, California writing, serving the poor, and playing with his granddaughter as much as he can.
