What gifts do I have that will help or provide a service to others?
An even more fascinating question might be to look at tragic life events and to try to figure out why they happened. In my own life this would be being badly burned in a house fire, having a lifetime of chronic pain, or losing three family members who drowned in separate incidents, my sister, cousin and brother-in-law. The mystery would be having the insight to find a purpose in these events, or possibly to trace them back to previous lives. (less)

Gabaldon's writing is so detailed that if you've read the entire series they almost become real for you. I love this couple because they are the perfect example of true unconditional love--something that is increasingly rare in our world. They experienced a type of pure love that crossed the boundaries of time and space, and their example can be an inspiration to everyone. They loved, respected and honoured each other, and this love was not based on physical appearance, ego, or accomplishments. They loved each other with compassion, understanding and respect.(less)
