S.A. Stovall grew up in California’s central valley with a single mother and little brother. Despite no one in her family having a degree higher than a GED, she put herself through college (earning a BA in History), and then continued on to law school where she obtained her Juris Doctorate.

As a child, Stovall’s favorite novel was Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell. The adventure on a deserted island opened her mind to ideas and realities she had never given thought before—and it was the moment Stovall realized that story telling (specifically fiction) became her passion. I'm stoked to hear you're enjoying Vice City! I already wrote the sequel (it comes out April 2018) and I have the third book outlined. The sequel focuses on Miles and Pierce, and so will the third, but a few more perspectives will show up then (other than Pierce). I can't say how many more novels will come out after that, but I'm sure it'll continue! (And I hope you enjoy them all :3)(less)

It makes worldbuilding vastly easier when you can draw historical parallels to certain events. Sometimes large world-spanning events are difficult to conceptualize, but having a firm grasp on history allows for a deeper understanding of politics, nations, and cause-in-effect.

How would a nation react to a monarch suddenly dying? How does war effect nation? How does famine influence the decisions of normal people?

Having read a vast deal of history, I feel I know what is, and isn't a logical conclusion to these questions. The real trick is adding something more (usually magic and fantasy, but sometimes science fiction) that really brings a new world to life!
