New Release! MODERN GLADIATOR!

Hey everyone!

I've got exciting news - my latest sports romance, MODERN GLADIATOR, hits shelves on March 26th!

I know, I know. Take a deep breath. It's exciting--we're all excited--but I really can't wait to bring the hijinx of Corbin and Keon to you all!

If you haven't heard, it's a romance between a med student (Corbin) and an MMA fighter (Keon). At first, Corbin wants nothing to do with the fighting world, but when his sister gets involved with a fighter, he's reluctantly dragged around until he meets Keon--a guy with a huge dream and a not a lot of time to make it happen.

It gets intense, we learn lots about the world of MMA and UFC, and love blooms. Check out the blurb, grab yourself a copy, and enjoy!

BLURB
A prim and proper aspiring doctor and a destitute martial artist—both with hurts to comfort. Each with just the cure the other needs.

Corbin Friel hates mindless sports, especially fighting and boxing. As a medical student, he wants to help others, not watch them beat each other senseless. But his sister, Lala, can’t get enough of rough-and-tumble sporting events, and she drags her brother along whenever she can.

Keon Lynch doesn’t have much going for him. He’s broke, he lives alone in a new state, and he’s estranged from his family. But at least he has his dream—becoming a professional UFC fighter. Keon trains every day, and if he can just score a few more wins, he’ll get his ticket into the ranks of professional competitors.

But an unexplained pain jeopardizes Keon’s dream. During a backstage meet-and-greet, Corbin recognizes the telltale signs of a bone infection, which could cost Keon his leg. Unable to ignore Keon’s situation, Corbin begrudgingly decides to help. And while he gets to know Keon, finding him more desirable with each interaction, Corbin’s ex-boyfriend isn’t pleased with the development….

And he’s determined to keep Corbin for himself, no matter what.

CHRISTMAS SHORT STORY!! (Hurray!)

Real talk: my favorite part of the year is Christmas.

When I grew up, I was super poor (living in a hotel/car for a bit). It wasn't terrible, and I wasn't beaten or abused or anything, but there were points in my life where I didn't eat or have things that every other kid had.

Christmas was different, though. People came together at Christmas. People helped out, gave us food, gave us toys, gave us clothes--I find the season to be legit magical.

Which is why I write a short story for Dreamspinner every year, lol - I keep striving to write the perfect modern fairy tale that captures my love of the season, dammit!

This year I have THE NIGHT SKY FESTIVAL. I really hope everyone enjoys - or at least sees how I tried to make it fairy-tale esque. I enjoyed the setting and the characters (and the humor, lol) so I hope everyone else does too.

Description:
Photographer Zach is happy to pack up his gear and head to the Mojave Desert over the holidays. Ever since his ex-husband filed for divorce a day before Christmas, it’s safe to say this isn’t Zach’s favorite time of year.

Fortunately, he stumbles upon a town where the residents seem to agree. The good people of Baker would much rather celebrate the possibility of extraterrestrials as they dance under the stars in their unique “Night Sky Festival.” The locals are interesting, to say the least, and they want Zach to join them.

But is Zach ready to let go of his holiday bitterness? And if so, whose invitation should he accept: the cute cashier, the burly single dad, or the sexy fun-loving cop?

Check it out, and have a wonderful holiday season!

Blurb

Holding on to a life worth living can be hard when the nightmares of the past come knocking.

Eight months ago, Nicholas Pierce, ex-mob enforcer, faked his death and assumed a new identity to escape sadistic mob boss Jeremy Vice. With no contacts outside the underworld, Pierce finds work with a washed-up PI. It’s an easy enough gig—until investigating a human trafficking ring drags him back to his old stomping grounds.

Miles Devonport, Pierce’s partner, is top of his class at the police academy while single-handedly holding his family together. But when one lieutenant questions Pierce’s past and his involvement in the investigation, Miles must put his future on the line to keep Pierce’s secrets.

The situation becomes dire when it’s discovered the traffickers have connections to the Vice family. The lives of everyone Pierce cares about are in danger—not least of all his own, if Jeremy Vice learns he’s back from the dead. Pierce and Miles face a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels—one that will gladly destroy them to keep operating. As Pierce uses every dirty trick he learned from organized crime to protect the new life he’s building, he realizes that no matter how hard he tries, he might never escape his past.

But he’s not going down without a fight.

Next Month - New Book! (And thank you!)

Hey guys!

I'm super excited, April is the sequel month for Vice City! I'm super excited to share Vice Enforcer!

Fun fact, true fact: I never thought Vice City would get published. I thought it was too niche, (m/m, noir, underworld - how many genres can we get into one series?) but, to my surprise, it was picked up and I couldn't have been any happier. Now I get to continue the series (third book is on it's way! Yay!) and it's a passion project I just want to share with everyone. Even though I'm an author who should specialize in crafting emotions with words, I don't think I have the skills to adequetely expression my elation.

Seriously, thank you, everyone! I'm excited for the sequel, and I'm super excited for my newest novels in the works right now! More m/m, but also urban fantasy, high fantasy, and science fiction!

Please look forward to it! <3

– 2017 Rainbow Award Judges

“This was a super intense, high energy story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I was definitely not ready to be finished with this world or these characters and can’t wait for the next installment.”
– Love Bytes Reviews

“I am a sucker for a hard hearted fella finding and fighting for love. Especially when help comes from so many unexpected sides.”
– Jesse G Books

Blurb:
After twenty years as an enforcer for the Vice family mob, Nicholas Pierce shouldn’t bat an eye at seeing a guy get worked over and tossed in the river. But there’s something about the suspected police mole, Miles, that has Pierce second-guessing himself. The kid is just trying to look out for his brother any way he knows how, and the altruistic motive sparks an uncharacteristic act of mercy that involves Pierce taking Miles under his wing.

Miles wants to repay Pierce for saving his life. Pierce shouldn’t see him as anything but a convenient hookup… and he sure as hell shouldn’t get involved in Miles’s doomed quest to get his brother out of a rival street gang. He shouldn’t do a lot of things, but life on the streets isn’t about following the rules. Besides, he’s sick of being abused by the Vice family, especially Mr. Vice and his power-hungry goon of a son, who treats his underlings like playthings.

So Pierce does the absolute last thing he should do if he wants to keep breathing—he leaves the Vice family in the middle of a turf war.

The Hunt - An Anthology

Wow, good news! Two of my short stories are in Aeon Writers Anthology: The Hunt!

It’s all about stories with hunters and the hunted. I have a story with magical wolves! And another with robots! Check out these descriptions!

WEAKNESS

A wolf within an ancient shadow-magic pack will be banished unless he returns successful from the night’s hunt. On the verge of ending his own life, the Moon Goddess answers his prayer for purpose.

SPACE SOAP OPERA

Emma, a long-distance starship engineer, gives the planet crawling equipment made-up personalities and stories to help pass the time while alone in space. When the equipment springs to life and attempt to end hers, she scrambles to contact another maintenance ship for help.

I’m super excited! Short story writing is a tiny art onto itself and I’m super glad to be part of anthology. Please, check it out if you have time! It would mean the world.

Arc of the Writer: Writing Thrillers

As some of you may know, I'm a member of the International Thrillers Association. One author in the association, Elena Hartwell, hosts the blog "Arc of the Writer" and asked me to talk about writing dark/gritty thrillers.

She had a lot of interesting questions for me, including:

Research for writing a novel, why I choose first-person narration, how I get in the mindset for gritty writing, and even advise for aspiring authors.

If you're in a mood for a pretty good interview on thriller novels (and how an author writes one!) I would suggest checking it out. :3

Sequel to Ranger Station Haven

Good news everybody!

I wrote a sequel to my Christmas short story, Ranger Station Haven, and sent it to in to be considered for this year's upcoming anthology.

Unfortunately, they don't accept sequels in their anthology (oops) but they enjoyed the story so much that they asked to produce it as a novella instead! Hurray!

That means 31 Days & Legos, the sequel to Ranger Station Haven, will be available in December (just in time for Christmas!)

I hope everyone enjoys - 31 Days & Legos is the kind of Christmas sweet I love to indulge. :3
