জন্ম ১৯৭০ সালে, ভৈরবে। পড়াশোনা করেছেন দর্শনশাস্ত্র, উন্নয়ন অধ্যয়ন ও সাংস্কৃতিক অধ্যয়নে। প্রবন্ধ বেরিয়েছে দেশ-বিদেশের সুপরিচিত জার্নাল ও সাময়িকপত্রে। তাঁর ‘নিরপরাধ ঘুম’ গল্পটি কমনওয়েলথ ছোটগল্প পুরস্কারের সংক্ষিপ্ত তালিকায় উঠে এসেছে। কমনওয়েলথ পুরস্কারের ইতিহাসে বাংলাদেশ, বাংলা ভাষা তথা ইংরেজি-ভিন্ন যেকোনো ভাষা থেকে এটি প্রথম ঘটনা। সুমন রহমান ইউনিভার্সিটি অব লিবারেল আর্টস বাংলাদেশের গণমাধ্যম অধ্যয়ন ও সাংবাদিকতা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক।
