Now bespectacled, Trevor D. Otis lives in Upstate New York, near the Canadian border. He grew up on a dairy farm there, although you wouldn’t know it by looking at him. He has a degree in computer graphics and design from North Country Community College (NCCC) and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society.

Trevor is a video game nerd and book dork, who enjoys unreasonably long walks and ignoring the clock. He loves words but is usually quite quiet, preferring to listen rather than be the center of attention.

Stoic

Stoic

With overwrought indifference, I look out
And down to the vacant street below;
My mind rolls inward like it does in doubt,
Searching with a point of interest in tow.
Listlessly my eyes scan the empty space,
As any thoughts turn over in the brain:
Back and forth, focus shifting place to place.
A small conclusion reached without much gain.

The thing achieved is a recentering,

“I have two righteous addictions. Firstly are my observations. Secondly, my imaginations.”
T.D. Otis, Dream Deep

“I begin to sense a desire building;
A yearning for this place; a sense of will
To remain here, the sparks of love gilding
Edges of my mind, and trickling like a rill
Down into the heart of my rattling heart.”
T.D. Otis, Dream Deep

“I lie silently in bed
With pleasant pillow under head—
Exploring truths of a long lost eve—
Weaving with care what to, and not to, believe.”
T.D. Otis, Dream Deep

“Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
Oscar Wilde, The Critic As Artist: With Some Remarks on the Importance of Doing Nothing and Discussing Everything

“A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.”
Oscar Wilde
