The last few days haven’t been terribly conducive to writing, unfortunately, but I’ve still got Tempered in Battle up to about 206,000 words and climbing! I’m giving less than even odds that I manage to finish this month, but I think it’s going to be close.

Beyond that, I’ve been just trucking away at my writing. Not much else to say. Have a great week!

I’m up to about 197,500 words on Tempered in Battle, and I’ve completed one of the major scenes I had planned, and just began the scene before we get to the rapid buildup to and climax of the series. I’m expecting the current scene to take one, possibly two chapters to complete, including the one I’m currently writing. If things go well, I expect to finish the major scenes at the end of next week, but we’ll see how it goes. That doesn’t necessarily mean the book will be done, as I don’t want to ...

I’m up to about 185,000 words on Tempered in Battle and climbing. I’m fairly confident I’ll finish the rough draft this month, but we’ll see when I get there.

On the plus side, I’ve already done several editing passes on the earlier manuscripts, so once I’ve finished Tempered in Battle and have decided where to split the series into individual volumes, I’ll be able to immediately begin the final editing pass on my end (possibly adding some bits here and there, of course, maybe additional scen...

I have Tempered in Battle up to ~172,500 words, which is somewhat surprising after my wife got paged ~5 times for work on Thursday night and Friday morning, completely disrupting my sleep schedule. Worse for her, though… but that’s how it goes. I’m getting into what I think is the final stages of the book, but there are at least three major scenes left to the story, each of which is a multi-chapter affair. So… yeah. I hope to finish in September. Crossing my fingers, but we’ll see what happens.

There wasn’t a lot that happened this week, aside from my wife getting back from her trip. I have ~160,000 words on Tempered in Battle at present, and things are coming along at a steady pace.

Not much else to say about it, honestly… I’m just trying to keep plinking away at the manuscript until it’s done. Have a great week!

Tempered in Battle is currently at 150,000 words, so it’s coming along pretty well. Lots of character development occurred, and things are to the point where most of the major events I needed to get done in the book before I can focus on the wrap-up have occurred. I currently have Tempered in Battle up to about 139,000 words and climbing! I’m planning to do a little writing after finishing this post, so it could be up to 140,000, but that’s for Future Ben to determine. There’s a lot to be determined for the story, so I’ll just leave it at that for now.

I’ve also received word that, absent production delays, the audiobook of Echoes of Chaos will release on September 22nd, 2026. This is very likely to be the final book narrated by Abby Craden, sadly, but...

Tempered in Battle is currently up to ~127,500 words! The last contractor work is done, so I don’t foresee any further disruptions this summer. Hopefully.

I mentioned this elsewhere, so I figure I’ll reiterate it here. The next project after I get Embers of War situated and the first volume(s) to the editor is Talyn’s Saga, and I’ll be having a multi-year timeskip between the books. How long is to be determined, but I figure it’s good to let all of you know in advance.

I currently have Tempered in Battle up to approximately 120,000 words, and it’s currently going strong. I don’t know how long the book will end up being, so I don’t have an estimate of when I’ll be done, unfortunately. Either way, my current plan is to get it done as quick as I can, then edit the first book for publication. Whether I break it into more volumes or not is still up in the air, though. I’ll definitely keep you all informed on that part.
