Tempered in Battle is currently up to ~127,500 words! The last contractor work is done, so I don’t foresee any further disruptions this summer. Hopefully.

I mentioned this elsewhere, so I figure I’ll reiterate it here. The next project after I get Embers of War situated and the first volume(s) to the editor is Talyn’s Saga, and I’ll be having a multi-year timeskip between the books. How long is to be determined, but I figure it’s good to let all of you know in advance.

I currently have Tempered in Battle up to approximately 120,000 words, and it’s currently going strong. I don’t know how long the book will end up being, so I don’t have an estimate of when I’ll be done, unfortunately. Either way, my current plan is to get it done as quick as I can, then edit the first book for publication. Whether I break it into more volumes or not is still up in the air, though. I’ll definitely keep you all informed on that part.

It’s to the point I’m seriously considering the option of breaking it up into multiple books, and possibly the others as well, considering how some events play out in them. Alright, while I can’t say that I got a full week of writing in, I’m getting back into it, so Tempered in Battle is up to approximately 97,500 words. I suspect I’d also hit a scene that gave me some rather severe writer’s block, so that was compounding with the headaches I’d had to make things particularly bad. Remember how I said I didn’t think I was going to get in a full week of writing this past week? I was right. I got nothing done except for a doctor’s visit. A visit which I think finally solved the mystery of my low-level headaches.

Apparently, I’ve been suffering from tension headaches for… a long time. I honestly can’t say how long, just that it’s been going on for a long time. Specifically, they’re due to muscles in my shoulders and head having gotten ‘stuck’ in a very tense pose. My docto...

Yeesh, when it rains, it pours, I swear. Tempered in Battle is at about 90,000 words, much less than I’d hoped, but it’s what I ended up with this week. A relative was hospitalized, and that’s been a ever-present distraction this past week. Add a few other personal items to the mix, and it was a recipe for distraction. I’m trying to keep on-task, but I can’t say that I’ve been doing amazingly on it. I wish I knew why, but there’s only so much I can do.

The trip to see Rush was good, and I enjoyed it overall! My wife and I haven’t done many trips that were so short and focused before, so it was a good experiment for us overall. While she’s the major fan of Rush, I like them pretty well, and the concert was good! I learned a few things about what sort of seats I’d want in the future, too. We’ll see if I go to a different concert next month. Anyway…

Tempered in Battle is up to a little over 67,500 words, and has taken a couple of turns I didn’t expect, which just figures. I’m not sure how that’s going to play out, but I’m looking forward to finding out as I write more!

The contract work this week was very disruptive, sadly. With that in mind, Tempered in Battle is now up to ~57,500 words. I think I’ve managed to figure out how to mesh the side-venture that took so much space into the plot I’d intended, so I think it’ll flow together pretty well. We’ll see how it goes, though!

This week should be relatively calm, though, so I’m hoping to get a proper amount of writing in. Have a wonderful week, everyone!

As of this writing, Tempered in Battle is up to approximately 49,000 words, and I’m trying to make up a bit of the lost ground from last week. I doubt I’ll manage too much, though. Regardless, it’s coming along well! Behind where I wanted to be, but I lost a day to my eyes getting dilated at the eye doctor, and another due to my muse being fickle.
