I have the manuscript of Echoes of Chaos back from the editor! It took longer than expected because they wanted to do a second pass over it, but this is well within the time I’d set aside for it. This week I expect to go through it and prepare it to upload on all the sites where it’ll be published, as well as sending it to Podium. I only expect that to take a few days.

First, the good news! My editor is mostly through Echoes of Chaos, and I expect to get the edited version back in the next few days, depending on their schedule. It’ll definitely be ready in time for the April release, so we’re on-track there!

As for the bad news, my hope to get working on Silent Songstress this week didn’t happen. Between weather-induced malaise and general distraction, I didn’t get anything done. It doesn’t help that my muse got distracted by a different shiny, but I hope t...

I’ve finished my final editing pass on Echoes of Chaos, and it’s off to the editor. After editing I cut a few thousand words, but that’s all. That puts it at approximately 155,000 words, which I’m pretty happy with. I expect to get back the edited version in the next week and a half or so, but the release date of April 6th is going to stay where it is. That’ll give plenty of time for Podium to get started on their part, and for me to set up sales via other channels.

I’m over halfway done editing Echoes of Chaos, after which I’ll be sending it off to the editor. I’m pretty happy with how it’s coming together so far, and can’t wait to share it! Which, of course, is going to take a while, but there’s not much I can do about that at the moment.

The next round of editing begins today! I hope to have Echoes of Chaos off to the editor two weeks from today, but we’ll see if I make it. A lot depends on how much I’m able to focus on a given day, and if my throat decides to give out on me. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time.

The first pass of editing on Born of Chaos is complete! I expect to finish the next pass by February 16th, at which point I’ll be sending the manuscript to my editor. I’ll be putting up a pre-order sometime this week.

So, this is a question that became particularly relevant when writing Born of Chaos, but has been lurking in the back of my head for a while. It’s about the perspectives of different characters.

In this case, there’s a spot in Born of Chaos where it gets incredibly confusing unless each perspective has the character’s name at the start of it. As expected, I completed the rough draft of Born of Chaos this past week! I have about 158,000 words on it, and have begun editing. However, the nature of the editing, where I’m taking older material and adding to it, means that I’m having to put more work into the editing process. Remember how I said that if writing went smoothly, I’d finish the rough draft of Born of Chaos this past week? That didn’t happen. I’m at about 151,500 words, and I’m working on the last chapter. Realistically, there’re two chapters left, as the epilogue is going to be longer than normal for me. Still, I expect to finish one chapter today, and plan to push through the epilogue as soon as I can to get to editing.

Born of Chaos is up to ~140,000 words! New Year’s interfered more with writing than I’d hoped it would, but I still got a fair bit done, and things are moving along well! Assuming my writing goes smoothly, I’m confident of finishing the rough draft this week. But we’ll see if it runs long… it could happen. I adore this last part of the book, too, so I hope everyone else does when you get to read it!
