Tegan Anderson is a storyteller from Devon, England, where they grew up believing in fairy tales and wishing they could become one too. They attended Falmouth University to study Photography and were lured into getting a master's degree after spending too much time longing to turn their stories into screenplays. They are the author of BBNYA finalist Paper Forests and BookLife Prize semi-finalist There Will Be Other Summers, and are currently working on novels focusing on neurodivergence and disability acceptance. It may sound egotistical, but I'd love to travel to the worlds where my characters live, especially the one in the novel I'm working on now.(less)

This isn't the kind of fairytale where the princess marries a prince. It's the one where she kills him.

'Nettle & Bone' is a good fit for those seeking a story that subverts traditional fairytale tropes, featuring a shy and unlikely heroine who embark

Books one and two are done. I am doing my pass on book three right now and am about halfway through. I have read Pablo's pass on book four and it's already great, but I have not yet started my pass. Basically, each co-author writes their draft, based See Rick’s answer.

Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy
"unfortunately i didn’t like this, which is a shame as i enjoyed the audiobook of ‘i’m glad my mom died’.

it’s repetitive and predictable, with juvenile writing that quickly becomes grating. i can appreciate that the novel is told from the perspective" Read more of this review »

"I’m actually sorry that I feel this way. I really enjoyed her memoir, but this was vulgar and deeply off-putting.
I rarely give one-star ratings. I understand the effort it takes to write a book and put it into the world, and for that alone, it feels " Read more of this review »

“That was the moment when I almost forgot we were losing the narrative that is life.”
Tegan Anderson, Beauty in the Breakdown

“But we’ve made the trade: one awful inescapable thing for that golden moment in time, that moment of honeycomb light and a warm summer day tapering to an eternal evening.”
Tegan Anderson, Paper Forests

“We circle each other, our gazes remaining locked, the white dress fanning out and wrapping around our legs. Neither of us make any attempt to remove it as my free hand drops to her waist, hers on my shoulder. We spin and sway down the aisle in imperfect sync to the beat of the progressing song and eventually I feel my body relax, allowing a small smile to form.”
Tegan Anderson, Beauty in the Breakdown

“Everyone wanted me to feed them that story—darkness to light, weakness to strength, broken to whole. I wanted it, too.”
John Green, Turtles All the Way Down

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you'll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart.”
Leigh Bardugo, Six of Crows

“Bob says hello," He told the stars.
The Argo II sailed into the night.”
Rick Riordan, The House of Hades
tags: end, no, sad

“I can recount our small collection of memories from the time we spent exploring through those trees, running carelessly as if we were children again. I can easily remember the fallen tree serving as a bridge over the stream, the one that we both hung upside down from and felt all of the blood rush to our heads. I would give anything to regain that childlike sense of innocence we shared in our sparse moments of escaping from our problems. Unfortunately, they crept back as soon as the trees were fading into the horizon and the front door shut behind us.”
Tegan Anderson, Beauty in the Breakdown

“It’s times like this when it feels as if everything has gone from zero to a hundred miles per hour in an instance before crashing into a wall and exploding. You jump into a situation head first without knowing what’s going to happen and it ends up awful. You feel as if you will shatter at the slightest touch, about to crumble into dust if another situation becomes too ridiculous, too desperate.”
