E.M. (Elisabeth) Hamill writes adult science fiction and fantasy somewhere in the wilds of eastern suburban Kansas. A nurse by day, wordsmith by night, she has sworn never to grow up and get boring.

Frequently under the influence of caffeinated beverages, she also writes as Elisabeth Hamill for young adult readers in fantasy with the award-winning Songmaker series.

She lives with her family, where they fend off flying monkey attacks and prep for the zombie apocalypse.

"Travis Baldree's books have so much warmth and humanity in them, even if they're about a middle aged mouse (sorry, rattkin) trying to forge a new path in life. Another entry in the L&L series that lives up to the high standard set by the first book, " Read more of this review »

“Male? female? both?
No one's ever asked me that question, I see myself as neither. I'm something different all together.”
E.M. Hamill, Dalí

“What would you have me do? Tell me. My pain is yours to share, beloved friend. Allow me to help you. You rage is fearsome but undirected. You point it at yourself.”
E.M. Hamill, Dalí

“First, eat. Then we train. One step follows another. One day follows another." He touched my head, and his reassurance flowed into my mind. "It is a beginning.”

“What an astonishing thing a book is. It's a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you're inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic."

[Cosmos, Part 11: The Persistence of Memory (1980)]”
Carl Sagan, Cosmos

“In the beginning the Universe was created.
This had made many people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.”
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
