Jacqueline Pawl can be most often found reading, writing, or shopping for even more books to add to her ever-growing ‘to-read’ pile. (She swears, someday she’ll get a chance to read all of them.) MERCILESS is the first book in her Throne of Glass-esque fantasy series, complete with tough-as-nails assassins, snarky blacksmiths, a dreamy prince, and a mad king.

My best guess for the release date would be sometime in early/mid-2023. Overall, I'm planning on this being a 5-book series; books 1-3/4 will cover the events that led up to Riona becoming a prisoner of the Erdurian Emperor, and the remaining book(s) will continue after the hearing. Ah, I'm sorry I didn't see this question until now!

I agree with you about the Divergent movies, and I feel the same way about the books. Divergent and Insurgent were great, in my opinion, but the plot started to unravel in Allegiant. The characters made too many choices that went against their previous character arcs, which was frustrating. I think if I were to reread the series, I'd read books 1 and 2 and stop there. Just my 2 cents. (less)

Ruthless sneak peek #1

Book three in my Born Assassin series is coming out in a few weeks (pub date will be announced in a few days), so I’m going to share sneak peeks every couple days until it’s released. Today is a longer one–enjoy! “Why did you want to stay behind?” Mercy asks as she rolls her neck, …

“I’d seen a thousand lifetimes come and go, but had never truly lived.”
Jacqueline Pawl, Defying Vesuvius

“Make no mistake—a court as large as my father’s is a dangerous place. There are always whispers of revolt among the border cities and vassals,” he said, his voice low. “When you marry Drystan, his allies will become your allies. His enemies will become your enemies. But if anyone comes for you, I swear, I will make them wish I had given them the mercy of a swift death.”
Jacqueline Pawl, Court of Vipers

“When I’m with you, it’s like I’ve been seeing black-and-white and you’re the only spot of color; like I’m drowning and falling and gasping for breath all at once, and I feel so unbelievably happy.”
Jacqueline Pawl, Defying Vesuvius

“My world slowed and I closed my eyes. “I am going to give you my heart now,” I whispered. “Please don’t break it again.”
Jessica Verday, The Haunted

“At that moment - in that small, concise, perfectly clear moment of time - I knew. It was that moment I fell in love with him. It actually caused me to stop, and time froze for just a second. But that feeling was so right, and so strong, that I knew I wasn't wrong.”
Jessica Verday, The Hollow

“I spent my life folded between the pages of books.
In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”
Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

“The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human.
Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”
Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

“Words, I think, are such unpredictable creatures.
No gun, no sword, no army or king will ever be more powerful than a sentence. Swords may cut and kill, but words will stab and stay, burying themselves in our bones to become corpses we carry into the future, all the time digging and failing to rip their skeletons from our flesh.”
Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me

Soso K Three things:
1. You should 'like' the quote, "Too long. Much too long."
2. You need to add (Hush, Hush) Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick to your 'to-read' list, and
3. There's a fifth book in the Kissed by An Angel Series by Elizabeth Chandler! It's called Everlasting, here's a link . . . http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...
