Shared bodies and wet kisses are brief moments of satisfaction. They're like a beautiful wave rolling onto the beach. Beautiful, but temporary. We know it won't last long and will eventually roll back. So, we learn to enjoy the moment. Some ignore the emptiness it will leave behind just to have that moment. Others cycle from one moment to the next to keep from feeling the void. And, many are led by lust, but virgins to love.

I can stand naked in the middle of Times Square and I still wouldn't feel as naked as when I show you who I am! If someone honors you with the gift of their bare soul, cherish it. Don't use it against them. Don't take it for granted! Don't take advantage of it! Far too many people equate being naked in someone's presence as being intimate. That's not intimacy! True intimacy can only be obtained when both shed all of their pretenses, shed all of their emotional walls of protection, and allow each other to see every inch of their souls! If you find it easier to undress for them than to unmask for them, walk away! Either you're not ready for true intimacy, they're not the one you should be intimate with, or they're not worthy of the privilege.

Familial ties can be the catapult you need to soar in life. They can also be the anchor in the sea of turmoil holding you down. In life, we sometimes have to break the ties that bind when they lead to our detriment. You should never walk away from family frivolously, but you shouldn't stay anywhere love doesn't live.

Dependency is not love. Abuse is not love. Disrespect is not love. Lust is not love.

Take inventory of your relationships whether they be with friends or family. Take note of those relationships that drain you of your love, energy, time, money and happiness. Take note of the relationships that take without giving. Take note of the relationships that leave you feeling disrespected, disheartened, or disenfranchised. Take note of the relationships that tear you down, instead of lifting you up. Take note of the relationship that dumps all of their problems and emotional baggage on you. Communicate the effect the relationship is having on you. If they don't change, they don't value you and your presence in their life. Pray for them and let them go! Stop allowing them to hold you hostage because of familial ties, years invested, fear of loneliness, fear of change, fear of starting over and fear of the opinions of others! Every one has a purpose in your life and they may have already served theirs!

Be open to love. Embrace Love. But, never ever chase love.

People can come up with reason after reason to stay in a failed relationship. But, most of them need to be honest with themselves and figure out the center of all of those reasons...Appearance! They're worried about what their friends and family will think or say. They don't want to look like a fool for being cheated on, or lied to, or abused, or for all of the years they "wasted". Or, they're worried that the façade of having the perfect relationship is going to crumble down... around them.

The next time you find yourself fighting to save a relationship be real with yourself. Is the relationship even worth saving? And more importantly, are you the only one fighting to save it?! Stop worrying about how your relationship appears to others and be more concerned with the substance of the relationship. Remember, it's okay to let go of anything that isn't fostering happiness, trust, respect, growth, and love! The only thing a bad relationship can do for you, is block you from being blessed with a good one!
