Craig Brown is a Kiwi-born author living in the United Kingdom.

At the age of 16, he knew he wanted to write. At 18, after a ridiculously brief stint at university, he quit his Law and Commerce degrees to become a full time writer, which eventually he did, 31 years later. Call him a slow starter.

Sometimes the words don't flow, other times, they're utter shite, but I continue to get them down in the hope that they can be battered into shape. What I worry about, is that the ideas might dry up. To date, there are still a few in the tank.(less)

With a fair wind, Dignity will be launching soon!

If you follow me on Facebook, you might have noticed me teasing the cover of my new book recently. I'm hugely excited that we're getting close to its publication date, which I'm thrilled to say is set for 1 September 2026.

This goes straight onto my list of all time favourite books. Fabulous from Fredrik Backman. Giggled my way through it, then cried at the end. Beautiful book.

“It is Cinderella in reverse. It is hope dashed, happiness mislaid, life mishandled. Nothing is as thrilling as they said it would be: no one is amusing, as clever, as attractive or as interesting. The sun never shines as bright as it used to, and even the fiercest thunderstorm lacks any real sense of drama or pizzaz. As the curtain falls, Group Captain Charming has left her for someone more suitable and has gone to live in France, and Buttons, in his zip-up jumpsuit, has taken up with a wearying succession of younger lovers. When Cinderella dies, her little glass slipper is put up for auction, a memento of days of hope and innocence. The catalogue entry reads: 'Only worn once.”

“John was angular, slapdash, maudlin, difficult, lazy, dissonant, edgy, sardonic, pessimistic, solipsistic, sulky, cool, brutal”
Craig Brown, One Two Three Four: The Beatles in Time

“Paul considered himself lovable; John believed himself unlovable.”
