Voicenotes From A Friend: Live With Yasmine Cheyenne
I know it’s been a while since you guys have heard from me, but don’t worry I’ll be back soon. I’ve been finishing up book 3, and honestly, I don’t know how people in business keep up with social media, life, your art, taxes…all the things! But, I have a newsletter on the way soon!
In the meantime, check out this live with my dear friend, Vanessa Cornell. We dove into her newsletter, which is a Voicenote called: Zen and the Art of Being All Out of Fucks.
It’s such a powerful reminder of what happens when we release the pressure to please everyone else and instead choose peace for ourselves.
Vanessa and I talked about rebellion, anger, and the freedom that comes with honoring how we really feel. No fucks left to give. Being in this conversation together was a true gift, and I hope you enjoy listening as much as we loved recording it.
Make sure to subscribe to Voicenotes From A Friend to get weekly voicenotes from Vanessa.

Perfectionism is Killing Your Creativity-And You're Helping To Bury It.
March 2, 2025 | Issue No. 12
I know i’m not alone in this experience.
Have you noticed that during the creative process, whether it be art, writing, or your creation of choice, that there’s a moment where you start to wonder if what you do is even good or if you’re really talented?
Where you may even start to think, your work is “trash”?
I just finished writing my 3rd book, and here’s what I have learned…
Your work is not trash, but…
The feelings you’re having are real. The creative process is a journey. One minute we’re enjoying it and the next minute we don’t believe that anyone will ever care, including ourselves. Questioning your work is a weird part of the process that I don’t know how to skip myself.
But letting it stop you from creating and putting your gifts out there? That’s not what we want.
I want you to know that you’re not alone, because…
The ‘Greats’ Struggled Too
DaVinci is one of the most famous artists in the world, and yet, the majority of his work was published by someone else after his death who believed in his work. DaVinci saw the majority of his work as unfinished, even when it was marvelous. DaVinci left the majority of his work “unfinished” because he struggled with getting it “right.”
All of this was based on standards he created for himself. His work was loved, but he never got to see to what extent it was loved. He has no idea that the Mona Lisa was marveled over.
Can I also quickly share how important it is to have people around you who believe in you? Like, he didn’t believe in himself, but someone else did and thought…I’ll put it out there.
Even when he couldn’t and didn’t because…
Perfection Kills Creativity
I was watching Charlie Brown recently, as I do every Christmas season daily, and realized how simplistically perfect that first movie from the 60’s is. Is Charlie Brown in the Louvre? No. Is it still great? Absolutely.
You have a lane and your gift is so important to that lane. We NEED the lane you’re meant to occupy. We need you to create from your sense of love, and imagination, and your experiences. We want the creations that speak your language. We want it to feel like you. When we see it, we will know…this is you.
This Means…
Keep Going
Love on yourself when that voice comes up and tries to tell you you’re not good enough. Give yourself what you need.
Know that the you hear voice is fear, and its wrong.
This is a moment where pushing through is positive.
I don’t know if this ever stops being part of the process, because I still experience this myself, but I do know that the more you do the things, and create, the voice begins to have no power.
And instead, you stand in your power and do what you are here to do. Create.
And on the other side, you realize…
Your work is a treasure.
You will change, inspire and motivate people with what YOU create and imagine.
Keep going x
I didn’t post this on the “right” day or time as people say you should. I just needed to get this out. I needed whoever needed to see this, even if it was just one person, to get it right when they needed to.
Please never stop creating,
Yasmine

Affirmations for Your Week
February 25, 2025 | Issue No. 11
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been clinging to my affirmations lately. Life brings so much uncertainty, and when my mind wanders to worst case scenarios, I need something to help bring a bit of peace back into my world. I hope you enjoy these and share them with anyone you know that needs this too x.
Affirmations For Your Week:
I trust that even when I’m unsure, I’m being guided toward all that’s meant for me.
I release the need to have it all figured out. Every step I take is enough.
I’m allowed to rest, breathe, and move at my own pace—slow is still progress.
I give myself grace. I don’t have to figure it all out today.
Even in the unknown, I’m safe, I’m loved, I’m worthy.
I’m open to the lessons this season is teaching me. I trust that clarity will come in time.
I’m resilient. I’ve made it through every hard moment before, and I’ll make it through this one too.
I’m allowed to find joy, even in the midst of uncertainty. My happiness is not on hold.
Sending you love all week long,
Yasmine

Your Routine Is Boring You - Let's Fix That
February 17, 2025 | Issue No. 10
Our routines shape our days—and whether we want to admit it or not, they’re either something we look forward to, or they feel like a list of obligations. Either way, it’s easy to forget how much control we actually have over them. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how even the smallest shifts can change how we experience our daily lives. So, I want to invite you into an opportunity to reimagine yours.
If You’re Bored with Your Routine…
Swap one habit for something that excites you—listen to a short podcast or your favorite album while you shower or do your skincare in the morning.
Move things around—if your morning feels stale, play musical chairs with your routine. Bring a favorite ritual from your evening, like stretching, to your morning routine for a few minutes.
Add a tiny joy—light a candle, use a fancy mug, or spray a beautiful perfume before you dash out of the door.
If You’re Exhausted and Can’t Get to Your Routines…
Shrink them—two minutes of deep breathing counts. So does stretching while your coffee brews.
Stack them—attach something small to what you’re already doing, like reading your favorite affirmation from your bathroom mirror while you brush your teeth.
Release the pressure—some days, the only routine you need is just rest.
If You’re Inspired to Add Something New…
Keep it small—sip tea outside for five minutes, take a short walk, or start your day with one line in a journal.
Plan ahead—set out your book, workout clothes, or water bottle the night before.
Let it be flexible—your new routine doesn’t have to happen at the same time every day to be meaningful.
Remember, this is your time, your week, your energy. You get to choose how you spend it. Those very small steps you decide to make? They count. What’s one small way you’re transforming your daily routine? Leave a comment below—I’d love to hear.
Sending you love all week long,
Yasmine

It's Not Too Late
February 9, 2025 | Issue No. 9
I know it’s easy for me to tell you it’s not too late when I don’t know your struggles or how hard you’ve fought to get where you are today. I know you might be tempted to ignore me. It might feel like I’m trying to positively sway you into a line of thinking that’s not realistic.
But this isn’t just a quote. If you’re reading this right now, you still have time. And maybe what you want won’t happen immediately. Maybe you won’t see it’s beautiful bloom for years. But it will bloom if you give it room to. If you stay willing to try.
Carry this with you: Your life didn’t end in your 20s or 30s. You still get to enjoy this now. You have everything you need within.
May you lean fully into the belief that this is just the beginning. May you receive every reminder and sign that you need to keep going. You’re right on time x
Sending you love all week long,
Yasmine

Stillness > Stress. Let's Make It Happen!
February 4, 2025 | Issue No. 8
I won’t pretend that prioritizing yourself when you're overwhelmed feels almost impossible. But I also won’t pretend that burning yourself out trying to work to earn rest is the way to go. Something has to shift. Luckily, starting small is enough. And I’ve named some of the ways we can do that today and every day.
Acknowledge Your Stress:
You'll be surprised how good it feels to admit that you have way too much going on! Call a friend or schedule that overdue therapy session and get it off your chest. You don't have to carry it any longer.
Reclaim Five Minutes for Yourself:
Sip your tea in a chair that faces near a window you can look out of. Do a 5 minute meditation. Take a 5 minute walk around the block. Read 3 pages of a book. Whatever you can do, claim some time for yourself. Unplugging helps!
Check in With Your Body:
I carry so much tension in my neck and shoulders, I can immediately feel stress in my muscles before I'm aware that I'm overwhelmed! Check in with your body, do you feel any tension? Do you need a warm shower? A cold compress? An evening stretch? See if you can give your body what it needs.
All of of our overwhelm, stress, and desire to unplug is also why I created my upcoming retreat, Finding Stillness.
I can't wait to support you all in reconnecting with yourselves, slowing down, and creating gentle ways of caring for yourselves that you'll take home with you.

Stop Trying to Start Over—Start Small Where You Are
January 6, 2025 | Issue No. 7
Hey Y'all!
We're 6 days into the New Year, and I want to check in on you because I know what a lot of us are feeling.
Most of us start the year full of energy and ambition. But maybe the return to work, routines, and the reality of “adulting” has left you feeling like January 1st was just another day—and everything feels like it did before. (PS. Check out my segment w/ Hoda on Jan 2 to learn how to reset with kindness ).
If that’s you, I want to send you a reminder:
Gather with Yasmine Cheyenne is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
There is no rule that says January has to be a full restart.
The power isn’t in making this big, grand change or sticking to some massive resolution. The power lies in your ability to begin again—and again, and again.
What’s one small thing you can do today that helps you feel like I did something for me?
Could you take a short walk after dinner or during a break?
Could you set aside 15 minutes to talk to someone you love?
Could you release that overwhelming resolution and replace it with a smaller goal that actually feels doable right now?
Your year doesn’t have to start perfectly for you to know that there WILL be good coming to you. You don’t have to put pressure on yourself to have it all figured out. You can begin with one small thing that feels good.
This year isn’t about proving anything to anyone, not even yourself. It’s about creating space for the life you want, one moment at a time.
If that resonates with you, please take this to heart. Each day is really an opportunity to start again, this isn’t a cliche saying that’s filled with fluff. It’s real and it’s how we can learn to truly be on our own side.
Can I also share some exciting news!?
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m officially a Wellness Coach for Start TODAY, The Today Show’s new wellness app, and my meditations are now live on the app store!
I’ll be back on The TODAY Show this morning if you can tune in, but you can also join me for a special New Year Meditation Challenge in the Start Today app.
This is your invitation to reset—not just for January 1st, but for whenever you need it. We’ve got this!
P.S. If you need some support, we're focusing on committing to one small meaningful thing daily on Instagram and people are feeling the impact of how the small things we do really are the big things! Maybe your small thing is starting the meditation challenge in the Start TODAY app with me? No matter what you choose, I would love to see and hear the small things you've said yes to - tag me on IG so I can celebrate with you.
Sending you so much love,
Yasmine

The Ritual That Grounds Me Every January (Steal It For Yourself)
January 1, 2025 | Issue No. 6
Y'all, Happy 2025! As we step into this fresh energy, I'm sharing one of my favorite rituals—creating affirmations that speak life, goodness, and joy into the months ahead. Affirmations are a powerful way to align our energy with the future we want to create, and I hope these inspire you to step boldly into 2025.
Here are 10 affirmations I’m sharing for US this year:

I hope this year grants you the ability to finally step into yourself fully.
I hope this year gives you opportunity after opportunity.
I hope this year is what you've been waiting for.
I hope this year you choose yourself unapologetically and don't worry about what others think.
I hope this year you cultivate a love for yourself that feels freeing and transformative.
I hope this year brings you clarity and the courage to take steps toward your dreams.
I hope this year you say yes to rest, joy, and abundance in all forms.
Take a moment today to reflect on these affirmations—or create your own. A bonus? Write your own affirmations and record them on your phone so you can get a positive boost anytime you need to remember who you really are!
I also want to invite you to join me in a challenge on my Instagram where we're encouraging and empowering each other to focus on the small things.
Each day, we’ll focus on the one small meaningful thing we said yes to that enriched our day. Whether it's a five-minute walk, focusing on your breathing, putting your phone away at the dinner table, or going to sleep earlier to give yourself space for rest - together we'll remember how the small things become big change. xx
And also in exciting news, I’ll be on the TODAY Show tomorrow during the 8 o’clock hour sharing the best ways you can reset for the New Year. Watch and send a message afterwards with your thoughts!!
Sending you so much love!

Do This Daily + Shift Your Energy
December 4, 2024 | Issue No. 5
Each year, I find myself saying “whew…what a year that was.” And I jokingly, but kind of seriously, started questioning whether it was time to investigate if I’m part of the reason each year is packed with these challenges and lessons. Because honey, I am the common denominator lolol.
If you relate, you know how challenging it can be to stay focused on YOU when life feels hard. When you find yourself in these high highs and low lows, it can feel like failure…when really it’s just normal life and everyone is experiencing it, but no one is talking about it.
Gather with Yasmine Cheyenne is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
Knowing that life is gonna life, I used a lot of my energy this year figuring out ways to bring my energy back to a grounded place when something rocks me and throws me off. These tools also helped me build resilience, so when tough times arrived, I felt full enough to deal with them. Trying to control everything around us is exhausting and not the best use of our time. But developing tools that help you get through hard moments and thrive? That sounds like the sweet spot to me.
Quick Note: I’m thinking of holding a small virtual group to focus on how the small things become BIG things, as I share below. It’ll be intimate and powerful! Reply and lmk if you’re interested.
First up for tools that shift my energy are affirmations. If you recorded the thoughts that replay in your mind on a regular basis, and listened to them, you’d be shocked. So many of us have negative soundtracks on repeat, and they get turned up a notch when we’re in panic, stress, or overwhelm. Spending time cultivating a collection of meaningful affirmations has changed my life. I love to write my own, but if that’s not for you, google topics you love and find affirmations that resonate. Bonus? In your own voice, record your affirmations using the voice notes section of your phone. Now you can play these affirmations on your morning commute, after a hard call, or before you go to sleep.
Affirmation to take with you: The small things, become big things, so keep going.
Next up, moving my body. There’s really nothing else that works like a workout. Going for regular walks, lifting weights, and regular stretching has become my weekly commitment 4-5x per week, and want to know the big difference here? This year I chose flow over perfection. I don’t care if my workout happens at the time I originally scheduled it. I don’t care if I have to walk today instead of the weightlifting I planned. It’s okay if I need to take a break that I didn’t know was coming. Yes, I have a plan of what I’ll be doing when I get to my workout, and I have a schedule, but if life happens I’ve committed to getting it done however I can OVER canceling and falling out of my commitments just because it doesn’t look the way I wanted it too. This can be applied to so many goals we set for ourselves, so if this mindset doesn’t fit for moving your body, apply it wherever you may need it.
Affirmation to take with you: “When I commit to flow, I say yes to peace.”
PS. Flow doesn’t mean not getting things done, or not being responsible. We’ve gotta find what works y’all! LOL
Last up, I leaned into audios in all ways. Audiobooks, podcasts, church - all the audios. This has been wonderful in getting me out of my own way with the “I don’t have time” excuse that often comes up, which is valid sometimes, but no longer a barrier. If I’m doing laundry, washing dishes, cooking dinner, or even in the shower I can listen to something when I need it.
Affirmation to take with you: “I’m a priority and I treat myself like I matter.”
I also love lots of quiet space too, so every moment of every day doesn’t have to be filled with doing something. But if and when you need that something, these daily things have helped me so much.
These could also be great things to bring into your next year, and why wait until January 1st? I find that starting now takes the pressure off. You don’t need a resolution to decide to change your life in any way right now.

Musings + Moments from the last month:
