I am dancing!
Hello Friends
I'm now back from a fabulous weekend dancing at the Jersey Salsa Slam or the Grand Slam, something like that which was held at The Mayfair Hotel, St. Helier, Jersey.
The name of the event reminds me of a door slamming, but lets hope its only the old doors which have shut and new doors are held open for the new to enter. Saying this, what is the new? Well new, can be anything really, a new way of living, or communicating or perhaps even dressing. In general, I think people find it hard to embrace the new because its much easier to live with the old.
My concerns about this weekender in general were, could I cope with people around me all the time? Lessons in the day, then a full packed evening where the dancing started shortly after dinner and went on into the early hours of the morning? The answer to this I soon discovered was yes because if I could find space on my own in the day, I could keep my head clear. Fortunately there was a lovely warm swimming pool, steam room and a very warm jaquzzi which was maintained at 30 degrees, in which to indulge myself during the day. It gave my dancing muscles a chance to relax and my neck to rest back and contemplate how lucky I was! Where are us writers without our contemplation ... sometimes we think we can go, go, go but when it comes to it we soon find that we need to just breathe, let go and connect with our muse, even if this is amusing, to some who don't share our mindset.
I love dressing up and the weekend gave me a chance to shimmer and glitter but that's what life is about isn't it, see my previous blogs!
I loved to walk as well and before I knew it I was walking along a long road tunnel which took me to the local harbour where the tide was out and I was just looking at boats stuck in mud. I wish I'd walked further to see the beautiful beaches but that has to be another trip because I had to conserve the pads on my feet for more twisting, swinging and flinging on the dance floor late into the night.
I noticed some very silent people playing boule on what looked like sand. They were very engrossed and appeared to be taking it very seriously. I thought about the speed at which people go and I wondered once again if we stop to reflect, would we see more, or was the rhythm of the night on some occasions, just too irresistible?

Friday and it's wet!
Well, it's Friday, and it is pouring with rain. I've been out walking with Barney our Springer, but he looked at me rather disappointingly and said is that it! I hope to take him out a little further later. Busy getting organised for an event that I am doing to promote Salsa at Weeley Village Hall, Nr. Clacton on Sunday - more details to follow!
Christmas certainly feels strange this year with all the changes happening. I'm hoping for a covid free time where nobody talks about it for at last 5 days! I'm kind of sick of the news now. I have some lovely Christmas Cards to post designed by the fabulous Lily Elleth who you will find on Etsy, take a look at her designs if you have time. These have a picture of a cute little fox on the front. I'm not beginning to get a feeling that I'd like to write my cards at least and put up a tree! We have to hold on to those warm thoughts. It will be a joy to see my family. What are you doing? The Salsa after party will have to wait - everything is so virtual!

It is very damp!
Hello Everyone
Today is the 12/12 and I'm thinking now a little more about Christmas, in fact, I have purchased two small presents for my eldest son which is great. My youngest son who is here at the moment bought a small Christmas tree a real one after much debate about real or artificial and now it is decorated it looks amazing. I was worried about the needles with the dog but as it is a Norway Spruce the needles are meant to stay on, we will see! Anyway, now the lights are glowing, it certainly feels like the right time to Christmas shop as baby it's cold outside!
My new editions of Salsa have arrived which I'm really happy about because this week I have a zoom video interview with Dawn Chrystal formerly of Harbour Radio and possibly another interview radio interview. I'm very pleased with the new editions which had a few tweaks but it was certainly worth the extra effort. They say patience is a virtue and to be honest as I feel it certainly is. Don't you think this year has been about appreciation? We have had to adjust and perhaps look at the dial on our internal compass and realise that making the best of where we are at is where we are right now. Next year may be different but this year I'm happy enough to stay within my own territory. How do you all feel? Has it been a hard adjustment or have there been some positive things about working from home?
