Serena is a happily married mother of tweens and teens. Between bouts with the keyboard, she loads the washing machine, the dishwasher, and the minivan. Her work life in the Internet industry and in libraries spans nearly three decades. Serena dabbles in a wide variety of arts when time allows. Writing a book began as a whim (as most of her dabblings do). Her readers have turned her whim into a fulfilling journey.

If a connection is made, personal tidbits are often shared. Sometimes, a gasp-worthy episode is divulged. Then, the bus comes, the checkout transaction is completed, or the game ends, and away goes the nameless storyteller, never to be heard of again. We are left to wonder about the rest of the story. Fourteen and a Quarter is in its essence a series of such run-ins. It is truer to life to know less about the arc of a human story than to know the whole.(less)
