Hi all, for the purposes of transparency and so that readers are not confused when they pick up ADOBAM, I decided to address the debate of why ADOBAM is categorized as contemporary fantasy vs urban fantasy.

For reference: Contemporary fantasy is fantasy set in the modern-day context and in the normal world. Urban fantasy is a subgenre of contemporary fantasy, but the difference is that urban fantasy is always set in a densely populated area like a city.

ADOBAM primarily takes place in our modern world with travel to other magical/fantasy realms. While a significant portion of book 1 takes place in NYC, it also takes place in Scotland, with travel to other locations in subsequent books. An urban setting is part of the story, but it is not the main setting for this book.

Hello my lovely readers! As I gear up for the release of A Dream of Blood and Magic I wanted to take a moment to be completely transparent about the romance/spicy content in ADOBAM.

This is book one of the Spirit Marked series which IS a romantasy that will span at minimum three planned books. Its goal is to establish the framework for not only Avery's magical storyline of self-discovery but her journey toward finding her one true love as well.

Book one is extremely tame in terms of romance/spice (doesn't take center stage until the last 20-15% of the book) compared to all my previous works, but this was done on purpose as one of my firm beliefs when writing romance is that the spice needs a deep emotional connection for it to hit the romantic beats I aim for in all of my books.

I don't want any reader who ever picks up one of my books to be caught off guard by a story element or lack thereof. If you prefer super spicy fantasy romance, I promise those delicious, tingly, toe-curling moments will come... in book two. If you prefer your romance and spice right away, you may be disappointed with ADOBAM, and that's the last thing I want for you to experience when reading my books. So proceed at your own discretion... though I think you might find that you're gonna want to come back for A Dream of Frost and Midnight...
