Kerri grew up in Westerville, Ohio, but has lived in the Chicago area for almost 20 years. When not muttering about politics and writing guides to help empower others to understand how to get involved, she is a freelance writer and editor and chauffeur for her two kids and dog-walker for her beloved mutt.

Along with her coauthor and fellow lover of crazy shenanigans, Joanna Spathis, Kerri has biked from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Chicago; chartered a bus taking 50 or so people to the Women's March on DC; hosted a documentary night (that's Action #88 in our book!) on body positivity; and written a book encouraging teen social activism (maybe you've heard of it?).

Then a friend asked us how to help her middle-schooler feel less pessimistic about the country and its leadership. We put those two thoughts together: actions to promote a better world and helping people figure out how to get involved. Tah-dah! Wake, Rise, Resist: The Progressive Teen's Guide to Fighting Tyrants and A*holes was born.(less)
