Traumatized as a child by the haunted house at the Minnesota State Fair, McKenzie Rae decided to take that fear and use it to write as many twisted, spooky, and mysterious tales as she could think of. As a result, she is still afraid of the dark, and some nights, she is convinced that a monster is under her bed. But that could just be her cat.

Rae prefers to create fantasy worlds where anything can happen. The Dysfunctional Trilogy were the first three books she ever published. Since then, she has gone on to write even more chilling tales.

With every book she writes, Rae brings the dark worlds in her imagination to life, and she invites all of you to explore them with her.

Sometimes, I just need to see a story with fresh eyes to get over writer's block. If I don't have the time to put a story aside, I just force myself to write a little bit more of it each day, even if I'm not sure that it's good. Once you get that first draft written (not matter how bad it is), the writing process will start to get easier from there.(less)
McKenzie Rae The best thing about being a writer is getting to create my own little worlds that I can fill with fun and quirky characters and wacky story lines!

The Creepy and the Unexplainable

I've always been a little torn about proclaiming my favorite season to be autumn. On the one hand, I love the way the leaves change colors, I love the cooler temperatures, and I love sweaters and coffee.

On the other hand, allergies. All of the allergies. They try to suffocate me in my sleep. But I do still love the fall. I'm an October baby, so associating my birthday with Halloween really helped Read more of this blog post »
