A Kelly is now Alessa Kelly

Hello lovely people,

I'm changing my name to ALESSA KELLY.

I'm not hiding from an evil ex or anything, I'm doing it for business reasons because 'A. Kelly' is proven to be too generic and broad to have a strong presence.

When I chose 'A. Kelly' as my author name, my plan was to write two or three books in my lifetime and I thought a secretive initial 'A' would mean I could be male or female.

But... seven books later, after having the courage to put my photos out there, it's time to ditch the ambiguity.

To celebrate this, and to say thanks for your followship, I have a brand new, full novel for you. It will be free for you to download and I'll announce the link on my blog under ALESSA KELLY.

This is where you will find me: www.goodreads.com/alessa_kelly.

Please don't be a stranger and follow ALESSA KELLY so you can keep up to date with what I'm up to.

Thanking you,
Alessa (A Kelly in transit)

5 reasons NOT to buy this book

Are you looking for a book boyfriend this week? If yes, then please check out Unbroken.

But before you hit one of those Amazon links below, there are a few cases where you do NOT want to buy this book.

Such as:

1. If you can't stand broken heroes
Unbroken's Callum Wolf lost his family to murder and he comes into the story with a lot of baggage. But he's a man with a big heart.

2. If you crave a pity story about a maiden in need of rescue
Our heroine Sadie Mickelson is a gritty girl who has a lot of fight in her. A few times in the story, Callum owes her for saving his ass.

3. If you firmly believe insta-love is the only way love is supposed to be
While Unbroken is full of pulse-pounding action, the romance between Callum and Sadie is developed as the characters grow and face adversity together.

4. If you're looking for a storyless bonkfest
There are plenty of steamy scenes in Unbroken, but there is a solid storyline behind every action and decision.

5. If happy endings make you angry
At the end of the day, this is a romantic suspense novel with a satisfying ending. One reader sums it up: "I'm rooting for both characters right from the start, and this is a perfect way to end!"

If you don’t meet any of the criteria on this list…

Then there’s a 97.23% chance Unbroken is perfect for you. 😃

A confession of a romance author about her hunky muse

Happy March 14th. I found out that today, some folks are celebrating Steak and Blowjob Day – a satirical response to Valentine's Day, apparently.

Anyways, to today's real topic...

They say behind every great artist, there is a great muse. Lewis Carroll had Alice Liddell, Versace had Naomi Campbell.

Characters are critical to me, and I believe that imperfections make characters strong, absorbing, and enduring.

When writing Unbroken , a 'muse' had helped me craft the physical and emotional traits of hero Callum Wolf.

This muse has a name starting with a 'C' too. He's a fitness trainer from North Carolina – a handsome guy, used to be a firefighter and a nude model, and he's big as a tank.

What fascinated me the most, though, was his honesty about his inner battle. He had struggled with his work and health, as well as his outlook on life. But his resilience shone through. I must say, he was inspirational.

So, the 'broken hero' in Callum is somewhat a reflection of the real Mr. C.

If you know a guy who sounds like him, please keep it to yourself because it might be him. ;)

Full review of UNBROKEN by Independent Book Review

Hello lovely people. It's been a gorgeous autumn week here in Melbourne.

I thought I'd post the full review of Unbroken: A Slow Burn Kidnapper-to-Protector Romance for today's blog.

---

Reviewed by Chika Anene from the Independent Book Review.

A tantalizing romantic suspense novel with edgy characters and enough action to satiate our desires

After dealing with another rich brat on his job as a bodyguard, Callum Wolf promises himself that he’s done embarking on strange quests, no matter how much money his clients are willing to pay.

That is, until he’s presented with a request featuring a woman whose eyes are too enrapturing to resist. Soon he’ll find himself pulled into a sinister game he wishes he had
never agreed to be a part of.

Sadie Colton divorced her obnoxious husband at least two months ago. And now her savings has been emptied from their joint account, while her brother lies in desperate need of a new kidney at a hospital. So, she decides to be Mrs. Mickelson one last time. Only this time, it is in the form of tricking her ex-husband’s father Richard, who is suffering from dementia, into thinking that she is his wife.

“When I agreed to kidnap Sadie, I knew I was playing with fire. Yet I kept playing. I can handle being burned, but right now I’m ablaze with absurdity. The massive energy called Sadie is overwhelming me with matters I can’t deal with.”

As a result of one of Richard’s sexual fantasies, a kidnapping soon goes wrong, and both Sadie and Callum are forced together in the most unimaginable of ways.

Unbroken by A. Kelly is full of intriguing surprises, and it sent me on a wild ride. What seems like a slow start quickly accelerates into a rollercoaster-ride with plenty of action and suspense packed into each page. I didn’t expect this novel to take me where it did, but I’m sure glad I went along for it.

The chemistry between Sadie and Callum is palpable. Their eventual connection and surefire chemistry draws you in by the collar, but it’s true that the insta-love trope does fall a bit flat here, veering closer toward head-over-heels territory before the relationship naturally develops. But once this hesitation passes us by, it’s easy to draw closer to the story’s magnetism.

Kelly has done a great job fleshing out these characters and making them well-rounded, especially with their strong and unique backstories. The supporting characters and antagonists have their own backstories, too, which adds considerable depth to an already enjoyable story.

The darker themes explored in the book, like kidnap, rape, and trauma, may trigger some readers, so it is something to be aware of when going into the it. But Unbroken is an enticing cocktail mixed with romance, suspense, and action, suitable for many mature readers who are on the hunt for something tantalizing.

Kidnapping games - yay or nay?

Romance novels are the best escape ever invented. They're full of entertaining imaginations which make you wonder... could you really do that?

My girlfriends and I are a bunch of open, crazy-to-the-bone kind of crowd when it comes to between-the-sheets affairs. And as a romance author, I surely benefit from our honest conversations!

In the past few months I had been doing research on kidnapping services - in the name of writing romance i.e. Unbroken .

I asked myself: if I had the money, and were able to choose my own scenario and who my kidnapper would be, would I let someone take me for 24 hours?

I WOULD (think Luke Grimes or a young Andy Garcia).

So, last month I surveyed around 1,500 people, asking them a hypothetical question: would you pay money to get kidnapped?

The results are in:
* 58% said YES - adventurous!
* None said they'd done it - not surprising
* 42% said NO - maybe wise :)

The name that came up the most as a dream kidnapper is: Jason Momoa!

Control vs. trust

From what I gathered, people who find kidnapping games to be a "thrill" often seek enjoyment from the tension between control and trust.

There's something emotionally stirring about being at the mercy of someone, and at the same time, feeling safe to be in their arms. Plus, having a smokin' hot guy doing the doing has got to be at least mildly irresistible.

So, which camp are you in? Would a kidnapping game be in your wish list for next year's Valentines Day?

Get excited, but stay out of trouble,
A
