Hello lovely people. It's been a gorgeous autumn week here in Melbourne.

I thought I'd post the full review of Unbroken: A Slow Burn Kidnapper-to-Protector Romance for today's blog.

A tantalizing romantic suspense novel with edgy characters and enough action to satiate our desires

After dealing with another rich brat on his job as a bodyguard, Callum Wolf promises himself that he’s done embarking on strange quests, no matter how much money his clients are willing to pay.

That is, until he’s presented with a request featuring a woman whose eyes are too enrapturing to resist. Soon he’ll find himself pulled into a sinister game he wishes he had
never agreed to be a part of.

Sadie Colton divorced her obnoxious husband at least two months ago. And now her savings has been emptied from their joint account, while her brother lies in desperate need of a new kidney at a hospital. So, she decides to be Mrs. Mickelson one last time. Only this time, it is in the form of tricking her ex-husband’s father Richard, who is suffering from dementia, into thinking that she is his wife.

“When I agreed to kidnap Sadie, I knew I was playing with fire. Yet I kept playing. I can handle being burned, but right now I’m ablaze with absurdity. The massive energy called Sadie is overwhelming me with matters I can’t deal with.”

As a result of one of Richard’s sexual fantasies, a kidnapping soon goes wrong, and both Sadie and Callum are forced together in the most unimaginable of ways.

Unbroken by A. Kelly is full of intriguing surprises, and it sent me on a wild ride. What seems like a slow start quickly accelerates into a rollercoaster-ride with plenty of action and suspense packed into each page. I didn’t expect this novel to take me where it did, but I’m sure glad I went along for it.

The chemistry between Sadie and Callum is palpable. Their eventual connection and surefire chemistry draws you in by the collar, but it’s true that the insta-love trope does fall a bit flat here, veering closer toward head-over-heels territory before the relationship naturally develops. But once this hesitation passes us by, it’s easy to draw closer to the story’s magnetism.

Kelly has done a great job fleshing out these characters and making them well-rounded, especially with their strong and unique backstories. The supporting characters and antagonists have their own backstories, too, which adds considerable depth to an already enjoyable story.

The darker themes explored in the book, like kidnap, rape, and trauma, may trigger some readers, so it is something to be aware of when going into the it. But Unbroken is an enticing cocktail mixed with romance, suspense, and action, suitable for many mature readers who are on the hunt for something tantalizing.
