HEATHER SHAHAN was born in rural northern Florida in June 1987. She spent her childhood at the whims of her imagination, daydreaming and creating stories about elves, princesses, pirates, and fairies. She fell in love with reading in middle school and devoured books week after week.

Heather lives in Texas with her husband Jeremy, son Isaac, and pup Oakley. She teaches by day and writes by night. When not teaching or writing, she can usually be found snuggling her family, reading, or slaying dragons on World of Warcraft.

I write best when I am able to write consistently, daily, for long stretches of time... which, for me as a teacher, is usually summer break.

When I have "writer's block," I just need to get back into my world (most recently, Trinity). I reread, I plan, I infodump to a friend willing to ignore a hundred or so Messenger notifications, and I hyperfocus. Eventually, I'm right back in the story and it is more real than my surroundings.(less)

It continues the adventures of Peony, Eli, Anza, Gray, Zazi, and Drex and I have been filled with joy, heartache, and evil laughter the entire time.(less)

J. Ross did a wonderful job weaving together the past and the present of Adanya’s life, as well as delving into the events that led both her and Nehanda to end up at opposing sides.

“Mylo sat up without waiting for her response and slid the window open. “I think everyone is better when we look out for each other, not just ourselves. Tyl was right when he said we can’t do everything; sometimes we need other people to help. But we also need to be prepared to help in return when we can, when we are the ones with the ability to.”
He paused and glanced at the girl. “Are you coming?”

“This is not how things are done!” he exclaimed. His father smiled. “That may be, but it will be how things improve.”

“The crone lowered her voice. "Dragons still exist, girl. Only now, their destruction is more intimate. They're allowed to roam free because others are too frightened to believe. But you, girl; you're fearless, aren't you?”
