All of those things swirled around my head for ages and then one night, while my wife and I celebrated our three year anniversary of being boyfriend and girlfriend, we were drinking vodka and cokes, eating takeaway currys, and watching Big Boi videos, when the idea for a road trip book about the 1968 election being contested between John Wayne and Bobby Kennedy jumped into my brain.
