"I am a writer that creates stories and characters for black girls and women who never got to see themselves as the protagonist. Whether you were told that your skin was too dark, your hair was too nappy, your body was too big or too tall or all of the above, I’m here to tell you it was all a lie and I have something written just for you. For us."

I researched and read/watched fairytales for months, but the only two I felt comfortable tackling were Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel. Still Sleeping Cutie and Trapunzel won't adhere to their respective fairytales' plot points as closely as Thickerella did as I took more creative control with showing their growth.

For Sleeping Cutie I wanted to explore how much striking overlap there is between incel culture and collective black male misogyny and what healing from that mindset would look like. And oddly enough I used Trapunzel as an excuse to learn more about anime and manga culture and how black girls and women fit into those spaces because I love seeing pictures from conventions. But as far as themes, it deals with adoption and feelings of abandonment as well as learning when to take risks and when to play it safe.(less)

Also, I think the bad reviews for Thickerella were mostly targeting Tillar and not Cam lol.(less)

Lay Your Head On My Pillow by Tanzania Glover
Lay Your Head On My Pillow

So...I really hate that my first blog has to be one that's about something so negative, but here we are.

I recently experienced every author's worst nightmare because readers were given an unfinished draft of my latest release, Lay Your Head On My Pillow. I wanted to address it here because I suspect it's affecting my ratings, but first let me explain how the Amazon pr Read more of this blog post »

“That’s why I never believed men when they spoke because most just liked to hear themselves talk.”
Tanzania Glover, Thickerella

“As the great RuPaul once said, “My intention is to always come from a place of love, but sometimes you just have to break it down for a motherfucker.”
Tanzania Glover, Music to My Ears

“know I must’ve really turned your world upside down when I came in it, but sometimes it feels like I didn’t even have a world until I met you. I was alive, but I wasn’t really living until you gave me a reason to.” We have something in common! “I feel the exact same way. But we’ll have plenty of time for proclamations of love and orange soda after we go get you a new heart, Kel,” I teased him one last time just for the hell of it as I wiped his tears.”
Tanzania Glover, Waiting On Wendy
