At the very least I'll be writing one and editing another which I think helps.
When I do find myself struggling with a particular scene I find helps to either move on and come back to it later, or talk it out with someone who's opinion I value. Usually, that's my wife. She has great ideas and often sees my story through the trees of details.(less)

The most important thing is to not give up no matter how long you think it's taking you to write! I wrote my first book off and on over a 7 year period. Sometimes life gets in the way and I'd no write for months at a time but I always went back to it eventually. I think that having that first one done will give you more confidence as well so you'll keep writing into the next book! (less)

Bruce Lee
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
