I fought getting one for a long time before my doctor almost ordered me to get one. I thanked him later as it made a big difference in my diabetic management.(less)

I am a type 1 diabetic myself. I am reading your book for a biography in my reading class and have loved it so far. It would be nice to know how you manage to count carbs correctly at restaurants?

The best thing you can do is speak to a diabetic educator which you should be able to find through your doctor. They can teach you how to assess the level of carbs that you are eating so that you can correctly take the right insulin level. I am a big believer of the insulin pump which can help you with blood sugar management.

As I say in my book, it’s not easy and there is a fair amount of estimating and guessing involved. All you can do is the best you can.(less)
