Love mysteries?
One of my favorite authors is Agatha Christie, which probably explains why I always like to add a little mystery to my own writings.

Romance
I love reading a good romantic story especially if it has great dialogue, fascinating characters, and an intriguing plot. I especially enjoy them if they're set in England, and if they're written by Georgette Heyer. That narrows the field a bit.
Because I am writing more, and reading less, I have become very selective on the books I spend time on. I have a long list of what I don't care to read.
Probably my least favorite romantic fiction type book is where the men are weak and the women are always wonderful and strong. Count me out on those. I want my heroes to make mistakes, but over all, I want them to be likable and competent.
I want my heroines to be humorous, with good intentions, but spare me the ones who make men apologize to them at every turn.
I don't care to read pages about their emotions. If it's Christian Fiction, I don't want pages of preaching.
So the question is, can I write a book that I would like to read? I'm trying. That's why I'm going to reread some of Georgette Heyer's books to get some inspiration. Maybe I'll throw in some Agatha Christie books also. I'll keep reading the Bible so my Christian books will have gems of wisdom tucked here and there in them.
And, just for good measure, I'm going to re-write one of my earlier books that is out of print. Now that I definitely know what I like and what I expect from a good romance, I'll try to make it a better book. We can always improve!
