Women's dead bodies show up a lot in fiction and art. I thought a book discussing the significance of that would suit me; the introduction reveals Bronfen is a Freudian believer, which dampened my interest. The topic's great, Bronfen's analysis not s ...more

A great concept, imagining 200-plus movies as books, with a book cover to suit. And many of these covers, like Cast Away, are awesome. So why 2.5 stars?

Like any collection it's a mixed bag, but overall this is good. My favorite is probably "Camouflage" which feels like a pushback against many cliches about cyborgs (and is solidly entertaining, too).
