David Sodergren lives in Scotland with his wife Heather and his best friend, Boris the Pug.

Growing up, he was the kind of kid who collected rubber skeletons and lived for horror movies. Not much has changed since then.

His best known books include the gory and romantic fairy tale The Haar, the blood-drenched folk-horror Maggie’s Grave, and the analog-horror fever dream Rotten Tommy. David also writes under the pseudonym Carl John Lee, publishing splatterpunk
novels such as Psychic Teenage Bloodbath and Cannibal Vengeance.

Hello, thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed The Haar. You know, I don't have as much time to play video games these days, and when I do it tends to be a couple of online games of Star Wars Battlefront II or Rocket League. But I do have Still Wakes the See Full Answer

My new novel Death Spell, out May 1st 2025. I hope you dig it!
Part corporate satire, part ultra-bloody splatterpunk horror. If you thought my recent books had too many nice, likeable characters in them, wait 'til you get a load of *these* scumbags.

Phenomenal thriller, though I do honestly believe the film version improved on it by streamlining the story and making both Lecter and Starling seem smarter. Pity about the book’s relentless obsession with the idea that all fat people are unattractiv ...more

“There is a God, thought Aaron, and then the creature yanked hard on his skin and turned him inside out like a revolting fleshy pillowcase.”
David Sodergren, The Haar

“But before I go, I want you to promise me something.” She didn’t wait for him to agree. “If you love someone, tell them. Tell them every day. Never let them forget. And if they go away for a while, never forget them. They can come back, Jack. They can come back.”
David Sodergren, The Haar

“At the time, it hadn’t seemed particularly significant. But that was always the way with life-changing moments, wasn’t it?”
David Sodergren, The Haar
