Yes, it's a POV shift.
Yes, it's a retelling.
BUT this is no ordinary "same-story, different view" retelling.
Zayn's story is so mind-blowingly different from Talia's, with a staggering reveal near the end that none of you will see coming. It also brings us face to face with: the danger and beauty of Faerie Atoll, an island you've seen on the map but never in the books; deeply intimate glimpses into Zayn's present thoughts and past memories; returning familiar faces from Silver Blood; and a bombshell revelation about Zayn's Dominion Rune and the SENTIENT being that controls it. (And no, it's not who you think.)
Anyway, I have JUST finished the first draft of the rewrite (eee!) and will continue to post chapters to my Patreon while implementing final edits. If you've come to love my books, particularly the Gilded Blood series, I urge you to continue to trust me and give Zayn's story a chance, whether or not prequels and retellings are your thing. I recently quit my day job as a consultant (a.k.a. my hell on earth) to work with Rachel and (AHH!!) build a new platform for romantasy readers, which we cannot wait to share with you all soon. 👉 Everyone and their uncle came by my FanX table to bring it up (many of whom subsequently bought "the hideous pink book" - sorry, angry pink-hating lady!!)After previously blocking me, Angry Pink-Hating Lady (APHL) then un blocked me and threatened to sic her husband the "lawyer" on me for slander. Or was it libel? 🤔
👉 She also sent a picture of the poor pink book tossed in the trash :'(Out of spite, I decided to make the brightest prequel (Silver BIood) EVER and demand my trustworthy shoe phone assistant will get that done by TODAY.
👉 I also asked you guys for your opinions on eye-watering hues and turned some of those suggestions into pictographic prototypes !

Jehovah's Jungle Chicken 👔Well, this is a new one.
Two perfectly lovely Jehovah's Witnesses just showed up to my front door. As I was politely trying to tell them I didn't have time at that exact moment to hear The Word, Jungle Chicken comes flying out of the kitchen like a shrieking missile. Apparently, he DID want to hear The Word.
Fast-forward 20 minutes. They've finally finished their schpiel and are now asking me if I'd like them to come back next week to discuss these important topics further.

I went to RMRR and all I got was Tuberculosis
I learned some things about myself this weekend at Rocky Mountain Readers Retreat.
For example, ADHD meds + Nyquil don't always play nice. Turns out, mixing Lisdexamphetamine Dimesylate and Dextromethorphan can induce acute insomnia.
10/10 do not recommend.
Anyway, after staring at my hotel room ceiling for the entirety of Friday night, I managed to function (more or less) as a normal(ish) human being. It was wonderful seeing local author friends, two of my favorite influencers - Kaylie (@kayliereads_alot) and Ruthie (@musingsofru) - and several of my beloved Renergades! Hope, one of my FB Fabmins, also flew in with her delightful daughter. AND, we managed to get the whole (US-based) RR Team together, including Box Bish Dani, Miss-Fix-It Grace, and Queen Bee Britt! 😍

In short, it was absolutely lovely event! (BRAVO to the organizers!)
You're probably wondering where the tuberculosis comes in.
Well. Sometime after nightfall, my back-to-back conventions and insomnia finally caught up with me. By that point, we were all gathered together in the hotel's fancy event hall for a lovely pajama dinner.
The moment dinner was finished, two male narrators came onstage. Now, these gentlemen were perfectly fine, talented male narrators. The "problem" occurred when they started reading R-rated "snuggle" scenes - sans prelude - in a very committed, theatrical manner.
For those of you who know you, it won't surprise you to hear that even at my best I'm not mature enough to handle such an event, let alone when I'm slap-happy and sleep-deprived. And before any of you @ me, I want you to know, I tried. I REALLY tried.
That said, as soon as the growling started, I lost it. Which meant Dani, Grace, Kaylie, and Hope also lost it.
And I don't mean quiet, muffled giggles "lost it". I mean hysterical snorting and tears, with hands clamped over mouths to stifle the noises. I even shoved a cloth napkin in my mouth out of sheer desperation.
That's when the narrator started adding purred good girl's to the dramatic growls and grunts.
Aaaaaaand I was undone.
Now, for some reason, no one else in the room appeared to find the situation as funny as we did. (Probably because they are mature, high-functioning adults.) And because our table was at the very front and center of the room, we couldn't get up and excuse ourselves without further interrupting this VERY serious smút readalong.
So, I genuinely had no choice but to resort to equally-serious evasive maneuvers for the sake of preserving some semblance of social decorum.
I had to fake a medical emergency.
At my closest disposal was a dish of raspberry sauce from dessert, the perfect shade of blood-red for your typical tuberculosis and/or ebola outbreak. Seems like a pretty good reason to leave early, right? Plus, the tears (from laughing) were an extra added bonus to lend to the severity of aforementioned fake medical emergency.
Grace and Dani were fully on board and committed to the cause like the loyal employees they are. The problem was, we couldn't stop laughing long enough to organize our sleuthy, ingenious, tuberculosis-y exit.
So, we instead saw ourselves to the back of the room and sat ourselves on the floor like the hyperactive kindergarteners we are, right beside the watchful eyes of the event organizers' table.
Luckily, they're as unhinged as we are 🤣

Biscuit update! 🦜✨
Hello and happy Tuesday!
To everyone who has received their rewards, thank you so much for all of the gorgeous photos and reels you've shared and tagged me in! Social media has never been particularly kind to me and the Gilded Blood series, most likely because of the "Blood" in the title. So shares mean the world, especially when you substitute "Bl🩸d" (or something similar) for BLOOD 🧛🏻♂️
(If only the world of social media were run by vampires! GB would have gone viral AGES ago rather than making me weep and claw for every like! 🤣)

For those of you who are waiting for your Biscuit + rewards, I want to personally thank you for your kindness and patience. (And for posting snarky memes like this one Angel K. shared in the Renergades yesterday, which made me laugh so hard it earned Angel a signed naughty sticker in the mail.)
As the owner and CEO of my company, I try to shield my employees from as many of the slings and arrows of entrepreneurship and publishing as I possibly can. (Particularly because the last thing I EVER wanted to do was own my own company. Entrepreneurs are NUTS! (Said as a harried, begrudging, and crumbling-at-the-seams entrepreneur 🤣))
I try to do much the same for my readers, sharing joys and jokes as much as possible while protecting you guys from the ulcer-inducing tribulations.
But it's about time I give you all a glimmer of what's been going on behind the scenes regarding Biscuit. Tariffs, as you all know, caused a major headache as well as a huge slowdown. We had to pause prototype production completely while the entire world dealt with the horror and ensuing chaos of the Trump administration charging American businesses upwards of 150% punitive surcharges on Chinese exports without first giving us the incentives and infrastructure to produce those products on American soil. There ARE no massive plushie factories here. There ARE no major book printing facilities here. Hell, we don't even have the tree population to support such a factory.
Suffice it to say, I took a financial hit on both plushies and books. (And NO, you guys are not paying a penny more to compensate. That's on me and forever will be. Y'all have been through enough in this crazy world.)
Anyway, once tariffs decreased a bit and fees were paid, Biscuit's production restarted. But unfortunately there were some extremely time-consuming, back-and-forth design reiterations happening as Geekify worked through translation/creative issues to finalize a new and improved Biscuit prototype.
At long last, that design has been finalized, and John Taylor, the owner and CEO of Geekify, is personally overseeing production to ensure Biscuit is made to the highest standards while also expediting fabrication. The factory estimates an additional 20-25 business days to stuff, sew, and finish QA'ing Monsieur Bisskiss. After that, he'll be placed on a boat to sail to U.S. shores.
As promised, I will be paying extra out of my own pocket to ensure several dozen are air-shipped ahead of time so we can fulfill the rewards of those backers who pledged the most and quickest. Though this project would not have happened without all of you collectively, those intrepid souls helped prime the stage and algorithm for a phenomenal Kickstarter that blew away ALL expectations.
The good news is that Dani, myself, and our incredible fulfillment team have shipped out OVER 800 ORDERS in a little over 2 weeks. Which means that by the time Biscuit arrives to my warehouse, we're going to once again FLY through fulfillment (pun intended) ;)
Some of you have messaged me to ask about paying extra to split your shipments. While we can't do that for everyone, if you have an autumn anniversary, birthday, or other special circumstances that require you to receive your books by a specific date, you may email support@rachelrener.com with your Kickstarter backer number and full name and we can send you a quote to split your books + Biscuit into two shipments.
ONLY Kickstarter supporters can request this favor, not those with late pledges or preorders.

While I don't believe for one second that it's already August, this alleged month has some VERY interesting stuff in store!
1. SPECIAL EDITION BOOKS ARE ARRIVING
Yes, that's right! Revamped Amethysts & Alchemy, Kickstarter goodies, special edition paperbacks, and pink slipcases*** will be at my warehouse any day now! You you can preorder any of these from my shop, though the SB/GB black-out edition will be soon departing!
***GB pink slipcases are being discontinued after this year, with this being our last shipment EVER! So if you want the pink slipcase, get it now!! (Future books, including the permanent special edition version of SB, will have a custom 2-book slipcase (NOT holographic.))
2. AMA's ARE HAPPENING!
I am so excited to host C.N. Crawford and Deborah Wilde at this month's upcoming AMA (Ask Me Anything)! ALL paid Patreon subscribers are welcome to attend the Discord Event live, with All-Access members given special voice and prize access! If you can't make it, we'll post a recording to Patreon afterward.
That said, I am slightly less excited about the other AMA happening this month, which you guys made possible via a rogue Renergade petition that got so many signatures in such a short time, it broke the form 😑

OMG OMG OMG. Remember that smoldering tent scene midway through Inked? Or when Talia was ripped out of Zayn's arms at the Waypoint and ended up swimming with murderous mermaids and dining with lascivious goats? Have you ever wondered what Zayn was thinking/doing during those times?
WELL, GUESS WHAT? You don't have to wonder anymore because those exciting chapters are being posted this month!!! So if you are a Gilded Blood fan and haven't already, please come join my Patreon, which allows YOU:
