The answer to that is No. It took me a while to figure out form and style and it changed as I played around with the story and did some re-writes and edits.
After a while I realized that to pull off the illusion of a direct line which connected past and present it would require that I write in a format which seemed other worldly. It's why the language and vocabulary appear to come out a different age.
I liked the idea of delving into language to create a story and it has the added benefit of not using the identical words over and over. Creativity was paramount.
Yet, the story can be enjoyed. I've given a hint here as to what's going on and by the time the reader comes to the end of the book, the whole reason for the style should fit in to place.
Many thanks for this great question.
