I'm glad you liked the book. I went in a lighter direction for two reasons. My first two books, The Guardian Angel series, were dark murder mysteries with the most evil villains I could imagine, and I got kind of depressed spending two years with those evil characters, so I decided to go for laughs, try my hand at comedy. Then there's the fact that everyone in the USA seem to take things so seriously at the moment, and as a pharmacologist I wanted to find an antidote to these troubled times. I decided that laughter would be the best medicine, so I created Dr. Jason Longfellow for comedic relief. I'm hoping everyone enjoys the book as much as I enjoyed writing it:) I'm already seven chapters into the sequel to Pleasuria. It's title is 'Jason Longfellow and the Traveling Killer', another medical comedy murder mystery, also staged in the pharmaceutical industry. (less)

AI Hallucinations

I recently heard about a new thing called AI Hallucinations. I am both disturbed and envious. This concept disturbs me because artificial intelligence technology has taken off faster than one of Jeff Bezo’s rockets. And this AI hallucination thing suggests that AIs might be prone to making mistakes. I’m not happy that the AI that controls my self-driving car or remotely controlled house might star

John Jessop I'm on Draft 3 of the sequel to PLEASURIA. It's called, for now, Dr. Jason Longfellow and the Traveling Killer, although the publisher may have other ideas:) In this one, Dr./Detective Longfellow takes his family on a trip across country, and it looks like someone's out to get the amateur sleuth...someone besides his wife for a change:)

John Jessop PLEASURIA: Take as Directed is the first in a book series that I am calling a subgenre of murder mystery, the BIOTECH MURDER MYSTERY. In this series, Dr./Detective Jason Longfellow, FDA drug reviewer and amateur sleuth, takes cases in which medical biotech development has gone wrong, in a seriously funny way. I spent 30+ years working in medical biotech development, serious and often stressful work, and now I'm going to have some fun. Come along for the ride!

John Jessop I love writing. I am working on the second draft of the sequel to my new book, PLEASURIA, and having a blast. I also love to read, and just started reading one of Carl Hiaasen's books, Razor Girl. He writes humorous books about various social issues in Florida.

John Jessop I am giving all of my after-tax profits from my new book PLEASURIA: Take as Directed (Koehler Books, November, 2018) to two children's charities, Holly's House and Darkness to Light, in honor of my younger sister who passed away when she was only 45. My sister loved to laugh, and she would have liked the book.

John Jessop I am almost finished with the first draft of the sequel to PLEASURIA. I love writing comedy, and combining it with a murder mystery is a blast. It's kind of like writing two books. First I need a compelling murder mystery, and then I need to go through many drafts to add lots of additional comedy. Writing brings me lots of pure joy. I can't get enough of it.

John Jessop I'm 17 chapters into the sequel to PLEASURIA. It's called 'Detective Jason Longfellow and the Traveling Killer', and the backdrop is based on a wonderful 30-day, 7600 mile trip that I took with my youngest daughter three years ago. We traveled from Virginia across the US on the southern route, up the California coast to Oregon and back home by the northern route. I learned a lot about our beautiful country, took thousands of pictures, made wonderful memories with my daughter and got the idea for this sequel to PLEASURIA. What a blessing!

message 2: by John

John Jessop I started my writing career with two dark murder mysteries, GUARDIAN ANGEL: UNFORGIVEN and GUARDIAN ANGEL: INDOCTRINATION, including the evilest of villains, a serial killer and a cult leader. After spending two years with these evil characters, I was kind of depressed, so I decided to try my hand at comedy, which is how PLEASURIA: TAKE AS DIRECTED came about. With this medical comedy murder mystery I wanted to create something fun to read with laugh-out-loud comedy, requiring absolutely no serious thought on the part of the reader. There is some stuff about a midlife crisis, but even that's not meant to be taken seriously. Just read, laugh and enjoy. PLEASURIA Take as Directed by John J Jessop
