Carol Gordon Ekster’s first published children’s book, Where Am I Sleeping Tonight?-A Story of Divorce, Boulden Publishing, 2008, was inspired by one special former student who lived the schedule described in the book. It was an About.com Readers' Choice 2012 finalist for Best Children's Book for Single Parents. Another of her stories was in Library Sparks magazine, February 2010. Her second book, Ruth The Sleuth and The Messy Room, was picked up by Character Publishing, for their first list, and came out December 2011. I am always listening to books on tape and reading an adult book before bed. The one I just finished last night is a GATEWAY TO THE MOON and it was amazing! Also enjoying tremendously, Elin Hilderbrand's SUMMER OF '69 on CD. My husband loves it, too! (less)

Popo the Xolo by Paloma Angelina Lopez
"This book addresses a tough topic—the loss of a loved one. A very sensitive handling of death and grief, told from the perspective of Mexican culture.

I wasn't familiar with all of the Spanish words or the idea of Mictlan, but there was a handy gloss" Read more of this review »
