A Memory for Love by Linzé Brandon
Zarina sa'Der is a category one memory witness trained to work with the most vulnerable victims of violent crimes. Her last court case left her with nightmares, which required her to take a break to focus on clearing her special memory banks before she went insane. As a Treasure of the Magicians' Order, the Grandmaster arranges for her to take her vacation at the High Order retreat for the ideal peace and quiet she needs.
It has been three suns since Aidan Crea lost his mate and youngest daughter in the Wa'raki war that devastated Xa'an. When his best friend accuses him of becoming a grump, he agrees to take a break before the Grandmaster orders him to. After some soul-searching, he realizes that he needs to get back to living instead of purely existing after the loss he has suffered.
Zarina and Aidan form an unusual friendship that soon grows into something deeper until Aidan is tasked with protecting her after a contract is given out to assassinate her. Although her job exposes her to the worst criminals in society, things take a turn for the worse when they finally find out who is behind the attempts on her life.
They find themselves pawns in a larger plot and risk their hearts and lives to finally get a chance at a happily ever after.

Insights on Writing Fiction the First Draft
On a lighter note, you get to create whole new worlds, give birth to characters, and spin yarns that captivate readers and transport them to new realms of imagination. It’s like playing God but with a pen instead of a lightning bolt.
For most authors, writing fiction starts with a “Eureka!” moment. From this tiny spark, a story blooms, taking shape through hours of brainstorming, exploration, and the occasional bottle of wine. Each author has their own unique approach to the creative process, drawing from personal experiences, observations, and the vast tapestry of human emotions to breathe life into their characters and worlds.
In addition to creating memorable characters, authors must master the art of storytelling. It’s like baking a cake, but instead of sugar and flour, you use plot, pacing, and narrative arc to create a delicious literary treat. The journey of a well-told story is a rollercoaster of emotions and revelations, like riding a unicorn through a rainbow.
Of course, the path to writing fiction has its challenges. But through perseverance and dedication, authors overcome these obstacles, trusting in their creative instincts and embracing the process of exploration and experimentation. Many authors find solace and inspiration in the rituals and routines that shape their writing practice, like drinking coffee, taking a walk, or yelling at their significant other dog.
Writing fiction is no joke, but the journey can be a lot more fun than you'd expect. Forget about the lone writer typing away in a dimly lit room - authors need feedback, support, and a good laugh to stay sane. That's why they turn to beta readers, editors, and fellow writers, who help them polish their prose, develop realistic characters, and prevent them from going completely bonkers. So, if you want to be a writer, remember this: you're not alone, and you're not crazy - well, not completely.
The art of writing fiction is like a roller coaster ride - it's exhilarating, unpredictable, and can make you feel a little queasy at times. But hey, that's all part of the fun!
Aspiring writers, prepare yourselves for a wild ride filled with plot twists, character development, and the occasional existential crisis. So buckle up, grab a snack, and let's see where this literary journey takes us!

* Example of answering several questions as one:
Are you easily angered?
Do you easily fall in love?
Do you have any regrets in life?
Which person in your family (or friends) are you the closest to?
I totally lost it and got super annoyed with myself when I fell for my bestie. I didn't just fall for her easily, it took me four whole years to realise my feelings! But when I finally worked up the courage to tell her how I felt, I messed up and tried to hook up with her, which really hurt her feelings. That's my biggest regret because she's my closest friend.
Enjoy!

WIDE AWAKE ASLEEPby
Louise Wise
I based my novel, WIDE AWAKE ASLEEP, where I grew up in a sleepy village in Potterspury in Northamptonshire.
I wanted the novel to appeal to readers worldwide, so I enlisted Elayne Morgan from Serenity Editing Services in America to work with me on the novel.
Between us, we giggled over the differences in our language:
Bonbons – a chewy sweet in various flavours in England (chocolate in America)
Gas and air – pain relief in child labour (gasoline).
RTA – road traffic accident (MVA, i.e. motor vehicle accident).
Lock-in – widely known in England when a pub owner locked the doors after closing for illegal shenanigans.
Elayne didn’t know who Worzel Gummidge was but told me she loved the name so much she would name her next pet after him!
I haven’t changed my English spellings, and the book is quintessentially British, but it’s free from slang to make it more palatable to those outside England.
It’s been an eye-opener to see how British I am!
So, check out this time travel novel based in a small village that’s so old it was listed in the Domesday book. Modern Julie Compton thinks she has it all until she plunges back to her childhood to relive her life. One problem, she’s in someone else’s body.

Six years ago, we had visitors. Six years ago, we forgot.
Imagine a world where humanity is threatened by another species. But it’s still the 21st century. We still go out to work, enjoy vacations and watch Netflix on the TV. But in this world, living alongside us are Jelvias, who are disease resistant, stronger, larger, venomous. Alien.
Jelvias came to Earth six years ago to purge their planet of their prisoners, their sick and their undesirables. It is a fundamental way to populate unknown worlds, but Earth was already occupied.
They landed, and we forgot.
