The best advice I ever heard on this subject was to just write something - ANYTHING.
Even if what you are writing has nothing to do with what you're meant to be writing, just the process of actually doing it will often unclog the blockage, and you'll find yourself circling back to the task at hand.(less)

For me, writing is an always-intriguing blend of wild imagination, intricate pattern-making, and logical - almost mathematical - problem creating and solving.
That, and creating an entire universe and playing god with the lives of its inhabitants - mwoohahahaha!(less)
