Award winning author, Angie Vancise is a visual artist and a graduate of University of Toronto’s creative writing certificate program.
At a young age she saw herself writing a book. It was a dream she kept hidden from everyone until after her older brother passed, then her dad, then her mom, all in the space of 3 years. It's in that grief that Cry of an Osprey was born,

Hi Sheila:
Thanks so much for your question and for reading my book! I think I remember you from the reading in Meaford. You have written three books yourself right? I'm so glad you reached out, I had wanted to speak to you before you left but got too busy. I decided to write it as fiction, yes you nailed it, one for the freedom to be able to add scenes or conversations that I wasn't around for but also because I wanted to write it from Ben's perspective. Bottom line I suppose is yes the freedom part of it allowing me to take the story in whatever direction the characters lead me in while basing it on the true story. It took a while to figure out whether it was going to be a memoir or novel. Marketing, ugh yes, I struggle with that part too. I read online that one good thing to do is to review other books that you've read and sign it as you, author of ... It's a free plug and at the same time you are helping the other author by giving a review. Win/win. I have also set up a small advertising campaign both on here and on amazon. I'll see how that does. I also reached out to some local media outlets for interviews and such. Social media has been the best for me thus far. I hope that helps. I want to read your books, are they available online? Or local bookstore?(less)

A photo that belonged to my grandfather who was a police officer of 30 years. His first case and one he never talked about. It was of a woman standing next to a tiny box. The tiny box being a tiny coffin. A writers brain unleashes when you find this photo that your grandfather kept despite not wanting to talk about it. Oh the possibilities. The book is called Hidden in the Shadows and will hopefully be released in 2022. (less)
