I enjoyed writing it so much that after it was finished I found myself still writing ideas down. It is quite cathartic. I then shared some of these ideas with family and friends who encouraged me to take the stories further.(less)

First read this when I was a pupil at Llandovery College. We were allowed to read during prep, once our homework was done.

I really enjoyed reading this, I loved that it was written in first person perspective, not an easy feat. I thoroughly enjoyed the growth of Jack McEvoy and did not see the conclusion coming, which is novel for me.

I wavered between disliking Tyler and then Holly. There wasn’t much in it. In truth, they deserve each other and nothing much else.

“Literature had fuelled her childhood fantasies and convinced her that one day she would be the heroine of her own narrative.”
Kate Atkinson, A God in Ruins

Harlan Ellison
“The only thing worth writing about is people. People. Human beings. Men and women whose individuality must be created, line by line, insight by insight. If you do not do it, the story is a failure. [...] There is no nobler chore in the universe than holding up the mirror of reality and turning it slightly, so we have a new and different perception of the commonplace, the everyday, the 'normal', the obvious. People are reflected in the glass. The fantasy situation into which you thrust them is the mirror itself. And what we are shown should illuminate and alter our perception of the world around us. Failing that, you have failed totally.”
Harlan Ellison

“Girls like her were born in a storm. They have lightning in their souls. Thunder in their hearts. And chaos in their bones.”
Nikita Gill

Calvin Demmer
“On these dark-blue waves, it is the sea who is judge, jury, and executioner. This is another realm, where forgiveness doesn’t exist as on land and where spirits do not find freedom among the clouds. Here, they ride the currents of forever.”
Calvin Demmer, The Sea Was a Fair Master
