My Favorite Books of 2024
I read 68 (and 1/2) books in 2024, which feels like both a lot of books to read and not as many as I could have read :)
Most of my book choices for last year were cozy, rom-com reads - because that has been what I needed the last few years - lovely worlds for me to escape into for a couple of days - with reliable humor and happy endings. And I am grateful for every book that offered me that place of sanctuary - and every author who penned each of those books. I know how much time and care goes into writing a novel, as I am two years into my own novel writing journey. So, thank you to all of the storytellers!
Today I went back into my Goodreads "Read" list for the year, and I plucked my TOP 12. I hope they will have been some of your favorites, too!
1. Mika in Real Life by Emiko Jean
2. The Sweet Spot by Amy Poeppel
3. The Life Impossible by Matt Haig
4. The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise by Colleen Oakley
5. Summer of '69 by Elin Hilderbrand
6. The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center
7. Funny Story by Emily Henry
8. Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
9. The Lost Ticket by Freya Sampson
10. The Collected Regrets of Clover by Mike Brammer
11. The Predictable Heartbreaks of Imogen Finch by Jacqueline Firkins
12. Love, Holly by Emily Stone
While this list includes some titles published in 2024, it includes just as many that have been in my "to read" queue for a few years. I believe all of them came to me at the right time, and I am excited for what books will find their way to me in 2025!
Here's to another wonderful year full of good books, fellow readers!
