Sometimes I lay awake in the middle of the night and the sleep seems to avoid me - that's what happens to me every now and then without any specific reason. I can be stressed or troubled and still able to sleep, but sometimes I just lay awake, still - and listening. That's when they come. It can be a single idea, one sentence, a silly thought and often it may be gone as soon as it appeared. Sometimes that little piece refuses to leave and parks itself inside my head and it starts collecting other - sometimes totally irrelevant - details and around itself. It can be the beginning of a story, it can be the end of a story, it can be something in-between.

Finally, it may become out as a story. Or I like to think that the story was already there ...more

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Derek Palmer I once got a piece of advice that 'you should write about something that you know'. Obviously I had back then written about something I didn't know...…moreI once got a piece of advice that 'you should write about something that you know'. Obviously I had back then written about something I didn't know... So, I decided that if I create a fantasy world by myself nobody can complain to me that the facts are all wrong. Well, of course it isn't that easy when you actually do it.
The idea... - all kinds of ideas for stories just appear to my head. Some of them visit my head only briefly, but some are more persistent and those I write down. Sometimes that single idea leads to something more - and THAT may turn out to a story. When the idea regarding 'The Hidden Heritage' -trilogy formed I almost immediately had a vision about the turning points of the series, the beginning and the end of each book. The only thing that was left was to fill what happened in between.(less)

The whole series: 3 + 3 + 3

November the 16th will be the date. Podium Audio sent me an email in which they informed me that it would be the day when 'The Merchants' comes out as an audiobook! So, there will be e-books, paperbacks, and now audiobooks.
