How do you get inspired to write?

Doran firstly, the question that's always in the forefront of my mind is 'what if'. being highly introspective with a philosophical bent, I see plot potenti…morefirstly, the question that's always in the forefront of my mind is 'what if'. being highly introspective with a philosophical bent, I see plot potential in even the most monotonous of daily occurrences.
as to what sparks off a story--simply, writing. Turn on the tap and the ideas flow. I get so immersed in my characters that they run dialogue through my head during daily mindless tasks, and everything turns into 'how would (X) react to (Y)'.
I listen to a lot of music, my tastes are eclectic and mood-based. Video game boss-battle soundtracks will be playing when I'm writing more intense scenes, classical when I want ambience and mood. I have a spotify playlist that I crank while I'm driving around (my best thinking time) that's all geared towards Forbidden Realms and the characters.
Lastly, reading. My reading tastes are as eclectic as my musical ones, from horror to fantasy with a strong leaning toward romance. It's my nightly wind down time (ha ha) and I'll usually find myself still reading at 2 am (one more chapter). (when I'm trying to sleep and my characters start nattering away and making demands.)
