Matty Giuliano is a retired animal cruelty officer in New Jersey, having completed almost 2,000 investigations during his career. He received his Interfaith Ordination from the Universal Life Church, followed by his ordination as an Animal Chaplain from the Emerson Theological Institute. Matty now serves as the Chaplain for the Monmouth County SPCA in Eatontown, NJ, Police Benevolent Association #394, and is a Faith Ally with the Humane Society of the United States. His services, which are always free, include pet blessings, funerals, memorials, bereavement counseling, as well as spiritual and emotional support for the patrons, volunteers, officers, and staff of the Monmouth County SPCA and beyond. Musky is his first ferret!

It was our annual “Clear the Shelter” event and I was providing new pet blessings for all the animals adopted that day. I ended up in the small animal room and there was Musky; a ferret picked up by animal control that was stray. Now, I would like to emphasize that I was never a ferret person. However, after 10 minutes of playing with Musky, I knew I had found my new best friend. This is what compelled me to write this story.(less)
