Evolve! Find your Moxie!

Unexpected midlife experiences inspired Dawn M. Fitzpatrick to write her debut novel, The Moxie. Middle age shouldn’t be a time of grieving for youth, instead, midlife should be a time of empowerment. Life experiences faced with good humor or in some cases, hysterics, can be a super power!

Dawn’s writing journey began in college while working on her BA in music. Dawn is a classically trained vocalist, who plays the acoustic guitar, ukulele and fakes it on the piano. The written word and music notation, both tell a story. This is a creative process that starts with one idea or thought. Finding the story, that is the joy.

Dawn teaches music, is a certified personal trainer, and a collegiate first aid and CPR instructor

The house that we lived in was built in the early 1900's, over a livery stable, where stage coaches would restock before going over the Santa Susana pass to Simi Valley. It was haunted, by a boy. “We are part of a family with unique, strong personalities that somehow mesh together. We are accepting, and forgiving. These are the things that we have learned from our grandparents and the qualities that will be passed on as the family legacy.”
Dawn M. Fitzpatrick, The Moxie

“Our shared time together belonged to us, and those memories are moments of light to be cherished.”

“We are part of a family with unique, strong personalities that somehow mesh together. We are accepting, and forgiving. These are the things that we have learned from our grandparents and the qualities that will be passed on as the family legacy.”
Dawn M. Fitzpatrick, The Moxie

“There's a certain freshness and innocence in people who have always lived in one place and can count on witnesses to their passage through the world. In contrast, those of us who have moved on many times develop tough skin out of necessity. Since we lack roots or corroboration of who we are, we must put our trust in memory to give continuity to our lives...but memory is always cloudy, we can't trust it.”
Isabel Allende, My Invented Country: A Nostalgic Journey Through Chile

“I buried the girl I had been because she ran into all kinds of trouble. I tried to erase every memory of her, but she is still there, somewhere. She is still small and scared and ashamed, and perhaps I am writing my way back to her, trying to tell her everything she needs to hear.”
Roxane Gay, Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body

“She had looked in the mirror a million times and only saw the brown of her skin and not the magic flowing beneath it.”
Bernice L. McFadden, Camilla's Roses
